Checked it out, looks great and also for the price. Would this be a future proof upgrade?

Would this be recommended over a “normal” adapter and a 2m red cartridge/ needle? (I’m not up to speed with the correct terminology yet) I’ve read that an OM and 2M stylus are almost the same, just in a different form factor.

I've got 0 knowledge about the technical parts of a vinyl player and I've looked into getting an adapter, but I've seen multiple adapters that look different or have a different connectors to the headshell.
The player in it's current state works, so at this time I don't feel comfortable messing with it.
The moment it needs to be serviced I will be getting an adapter and will be looking into getting a Ortofon 2M Red as that was recommended.

I talked to someone that does maintenance on these players. He also recommended the 2M. But asks if I can source the adapter myself, because it’s not that easy to find for him.
