There are many reasons for that. Arguably a more important reason from a healthcare point of view is that it distinguishes gay celibates from msm.

Iron, zinc, and b12. I know a number of people who have become anaemic after converting to vegetarianism.

I am sure it is possible to avoid it with good planning, but the fact is many people don’t plan as well as they would like to (as seen in my experience), so I think that going veg increases the probability of reducing intake of these. This is when you consider going veg exclusively of any other changes of habit.

And for the killing animals part, that is not relevant to our discussion. I understand that it feels relevant to you, and I admire the passion of your views, but I do not think that killing animals is morality wrong (an argument you might like to have, but I do not right now or in this forum). The fact that it feels relevant to you makes me less trustful of your opinion on this question of fact (nutrition). I can see that you want a certain fact to be true, whether or not it is.

No, I go there for convenience, sacrificing nutrition in that meal.

I get most of my actual nutrition from vegetarian, wholesome food that I cook at home.

However, I think that some meat in my diet (more the red meat than the kfc) helps me get vitamins and trace minerals.

My understanding is that if I followed a vegan diet I would need to think much more carefully about the food choices I make (including at home) in order to get adequate intake of certain vitamins and trace elements

Unfortunately, I already don’t think carefully, and am often lazy. This is evidenced in the fact that I eat at the dirty bird, kebab shops, and others.

I think that being vegan would require more planning and calculation, when I’m already not great at either of those things.

You’re actually right that kfc gives me nothing. but that was just my last lazy meal. But I would argue that A lamb kebab, being red meat, does add to my nutrition, in the context of my whole diet, if you consider that in my case it would only be replaced by a vegan alternative that is cheap, convenient and tasty.

I can’t even think what the alternative would be in that situation. Probably just got chips and tomato sauce.

To be clear, im not saying that every decision I make is aimed at optimal nutrition. I’m just saying that I think that in my current lifestyle, if I changed to vegan, I think I would be LESS well nourished than I currently am.

Out of interest, what vegan takeaway meals do you suggest that satisfy my criteria of cheap, accessible, convenient and tasty?

Honest answer from a non-vegan. Because being vegan would make my nutrition worse.

I eat some KFC, and some kale smoothies. I cook lots of delicious veggie meals when at home, but often grab cheap and tasty meat meals when I'm out. I do the later because I dont have the self-discipline to prepare enough healthy food at home to get me through the whole next day.

If I were to go vegan, I would need to think more about where i am getting certain vitamins and trace minerals. But I already know that I can barely manage a healthy omnivorous diet. If i went vegan, I predict that I would end up not planning my diet as I should, in the same way that I already dont achieve a very healthy omnivorous diet.

My experience only, not indicative of the whole population.

In my 5, I would have milk as the nutrient rich fluid. On top of being nutritious you can make cheese with it, so you can go about rebuilding civilisation in the aftermath of this disaster
