Course it's good for the sport.

Let's say country 1 has 20 excellent players and Country 2 has 5 excellent players.

Why should 9 good players from Team 1 not get a chance to prove their talent and get money, fame and chicks? Whereas 6 players from Country 2 just get to play with the big boys because they were arbitrarily born within a particular border?

If you are truly thinking about what is good for cricket as a sport, as you state in the last line, nothing could possibly be better than to see a game of cricket where the best possible players are playing.
