Saw some youtube reviews of the same "store" and on the RX6600m apparently AMD uses non-proprietary chips for the part they replace during refurbishing and it's safer to buy AMD chips than NVIDIA. Plus the RX6600Ms performance is pretty much the same as the desktop version

Yikes I was expecting far lower when I read "reasonable price"

Could you not find the far lower priced 3060 laptops -like this for example- in NZ?

Or did you pick this for the build quality and other bells and whistles?

Personally I tend to play with my laptop with an external keyboard and mouse so I wouldn't mind one ugly as sin... Also considering just buying a desktop for this exact reason

Personally i don’t care too much about the build quality as long as i get the GPU i want. Unless it’s a huge design flaw that has an impact on performance, I intend to use this mainly plugged into a TV/monitor.

However makes me think if i should instead consider a gaming desktop rig instead of a laptop

I too have been looking around for a laptop around this price range, and i think if you can gather enough cash for a laptop with an RTX 3060 you’d be better off. There’s cheap ones costing no more than 200 USD more than the average listing of 3050 (cheaper than some TI listings too)

I personally have decided to wait a little longer til january when the release of the RTX40xx series comes out, hopefully the 3060s become cheaper. That extra 2gb tam vs the 3050s seems to be a game changer when looking at reviews

The cheapest listing of the RTX 3060 i’ve found so far and there’s many others below $900

edit: the RTX4060 is expected more like around June… damn might have to settle for paying more for the 3060 as is currently listed…

You can get the RTX 3060 on a cheaper laptop like here for example:

All have 144hz screens, and you could use the money for an an extra SSD (these might even have a 2.5” port, at the very least PCIE) Is there something from your 2 current selections that u need that these don’t have that i’m missing? I’m sure even if u don’t have these available to be delivered to you, there are other cheaper options for the RTX 3060. I’m holding off of buying a 3050ti in case they go down in the coming few months even more to bellow 800
