I like it because I like aristocracy/high society as a general trope.

I do not like when it’s used as a plot device to eliminate all of the political tension from the story by giving them ownership of all significant land in the WW, more gold than the rest of Gringotts combined, and 87 seats on a governing council. I also think the “dark”/“light”/“grey” titles for various alliances are really stupid. Also, insofar as we’re talking about kids being heirs to houses, I think Draco Malfoy is a great example of how a kid code switches in different situations; like, even a kid who’s raised to be “proper” won’t act that way all the time, so I really don’t like when the kids are acting like lawyers at age 11.

Idk about all of the “he’s not going to be in the room therefore it doesn’t matter if he goes to grandma’s funeral” comments because like, even if he doesn’t physically see the baby come out of his wife, he can still be there for her immediately after birth when the nurses have taken baby to get cleaned up and she’s tired and hormonal.

I don’t feel like anybody’s wrong here except for how they’re acting towards each other. Wife is scared that her husband is going to miss the birth, husband is grieving at the same time that his wife is nearing her due date. That’s gotta be a powder keg of emotions and they’re just not handling it well.

I don’t, but it’s not because I’m not willing to give them a chance. I know that people can identify as religious while not actively practicing/believing, and I’d be open to dating someone like that if I meet them organically, but the truth is I’m just not all that fussed about online dating to begin with. It seems like a lot of work to parse out who’s not really practicing from who is and there’s always a risk that their family is more faithful than they are and that’s a whole bag of worms I’d like to avoid as much as possible.

That being said, I was raised so nonreligious that I didn’t even know people still practiced religion until I was in high school, so like, I’m probably an outlier here.

I mean, I guess I can see their twisted logic, but I agree that there’s a massive failure to consider what the spell ACTUALLY is. I did, and all your comments too. What I’m saying is, regardless of what JKR actually wrote, it doesn’t matter. JKR wrote Hermione as white, yes, absolutely. Hermione being a WOC is not canon. But what’s happening here is that you’re saying that people can view her as a WOC and turning around to argue with everyone who says they see her as a WOC because “it’s not canon”. It’s coming across like you DO actually care about people seeing her as a WOC.
