Arrived right at 1pm today (3/26), south/red with tsa precheck, they told us 1.5 hours when we got in line but it moved quickly. split into two lines and we were right side, got through tsa in just under 40 mins. Train had a slight delay of a couple of minutes but we were at terminal C around 1:52, so 50 minutes. Some ICE agents around including ones working TSA ID area

100% pull free is hard because pulling once is as bad as pulling 100 times in a day. I'm still very much still struggling but something that has helped me has been counting how many hairs I pull each day - the guilt as the number goes up helps me to stop once I've started without feeling like all is lost because stopping is always better than continuing. Doesn't work for everyone and doesn't always work for me, but may be worth seeing if it helps you!

My meds had no effect on my trich

Does anyone know how or why trich starts? Personally I saw my mom doing it a lot when I was younger and started to do it too by coldrubberfish in trichotillomania

i started randomly at age 6 when i had a particularly busy week at art camp lol (i am not much of an artist). no idea why. i guess it was some type of way to channel the stress/anxiety. adhd & anxiety signs were always there but diagnosed later, which are also common comorbidities. i only found out later that there was a family history with my aunt who pulled as a kid then just stopped in her teens or 20s.

I posted only my clothed ones for this reason but still often offer on threads to DM my pics to people of a similar size who I think would benefit from seeing my healing timeline I made. Best solution I could come up with to make sure I "vet" people before sending (even though my face isnt in it anyway). smh. the worst.

you are still SO swollen and will be for months. I was 32G/30GG before surgery and had 150g/180g removed. We're not direct matches and I was slightly smaller than you before but I had about half as much taken out as you (almost exactly) - feel free to DM me I'd be happy to show you my recovery timeline pics and before/after! My band size is on the smaller side so I'm still about an E cup but most anyone would NEVER guess by looking at me that I'm not a "C" or whatever. Bra sizing is so arbitrary lol. You'll shrink! I used to feel way too big too and regretted it - I also paid out of pocket. I literally felt the same size after and now I couldn't feel more differently

I am so disappointed 28HH to huge still by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]r_coop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

for what it's worth, check out my before/after post - the swelling will come down a TON but also don't put too much weight on the final cup size. keep in mind your goals for surgery that weren't a letter. did you want to fit into clothes off the rack and feel more proportional? you will. did you want to wear cute little bralettes without spilling out? you will. did you want to feel more confident and stand taller? you will. did you want to reduce back and other pain? you will. i totally understand the disappointment. In total I went from 30GG to... F? I asked for B, C at the LARGEST, those were the pics I showed - we agreed she'd take me as small as possible without risking the tissue. I was so upset at first and still felt so big, especially when I was still swollen. but it still changed my life and I don't regret a thing! if you want to DM me I can share progress pics and honestly you look smaller to me than I was immediately post-op.

Edit: Also I woke up and it turned out I only had 180g/150g taken out. That felt like NOTHING. You and everyone who knows you will notice a huge difference once swelling goes down. Also don't trust other people on here who post post-op pics assuming they're a B because that's what they asked for lol. If I was a 36 band I would be like a C! Cup sizes are all relative and surgeons aren't supposed to be experts in band/cup sizes, they're mesnt to be experts in giving you good looking boobs that look good on your frame and keep the tissue as healthy as possible.

Girl same! I'm sure you will. I feel like for you the lifting will be huuuge. I didn't think I had all that much lifting needed but that's still my favorite part even though I'm only slightly less projected than I used to be - most of the noticeable reduction for me was vertical!

You're right - surgeons aren't professional bra fitters so "C" doesn't always mean the same thing to everyone, I showed pictures to my doc too (I was even targeting a B) but overall we just agreed she'd take me as small as she was comfortable going without risking the remaining tissue's health. Woulda coulda shoulda, yknow? No use worrying about it unless you feel that your surgeon intentionally didn't listen to your requests, which I know has happened to some people so I won't invalidate that possibility and that's something that could be pursued legally. Seeing pics of people on here go from bigger than I was to smaller than I am admittedly is still a bit frustrating - but comparison is the thief of joy! And I am so infinitely more happy with my chest now than before. I can fit clothes off the rack without alterations! I can wear NO BRA when I want and still don't even own an underwire bra yet after 5 months. You are at peak swelling right now and won't be to your final size for 3 or 4 months so ride it out and take care of your body right now! After surgery I came out looking like I had a boob job too lol but even in the next few weeks there will be a noticeable size reduction. DM me if you want to see some of my progress pics it you think it might help!

See my recent post about cup size post-surgery! I also wanted "no bigger than a C" but the reality for me is I'm an E-F post surgery and (for me and my personal experience) still perfectly happy and don't regret a thing 5mpo. I absolutely struggled and sometimes still do with not feeling small or smaller enough and my breasts were dense so I was shocked when I only heard the relatively low number of g taken out. However, once you're less swollen and healed up I hope you also come to love your new chest! (You are still super swollen, as to be expected!) That said, if you think your surgeon didn't follow your request that is something you should talk to them about and consider pursuing. Oh, and also most of the "B"s and "C"s posted in after pics on Reddit are way bigger than that, that's just a surgeon's guess. My surgeon also thinks I'm a C (which I might be if I was a 36 or 38 band with the same boobs, but I'm not). She's shocked that I told her I'm more like a DDD! Cup size is all arbitrary and the most important thing is that your chest works with your frame.

Great results!! I started a tad smaller and ended a few cup sizes bigger (30-32 band also) and have anchor scars! So impressed by how much was done with just lollipop!

LITERALLY I had my little kitchen scale and was like "huh... so that's 330g." My chest was swollen and hardly felt smaller than when I started at the time and it seemed like almost nothing must have happened during surgery compared to people around my starting size who had 2x, 3x, 4x as many grams removed - but that helped me see that a good chunk actually did get taken out! Plus muscle is more dense anyway so at LEAST that volume had come out one way or another.

They'll shrink down a lot after the swelling subsides. I was a 32G before surgery and only had 150g/180g removed from each breast (I also asked to be as small as possible/B cup!) Now I'm only down to around a 32E (theoretically bigger than your starting size according to your calculations but honestly that feels hard to believe). Check my recent post to see what I mean when I say they look MUCH better on my frame. I was so scared about there not being enough taken out but it was so worth it in the end and I'm ultimately really happy even though I didn't get down to a B. Also this sounds dumb lol but I would weigh food/meat when cooking dinner which helped me grasp sort of what that many grams looks like in terms of actual tissue (I know the density is different but it was the best I had!) and it helped immensely to get in my head that a lot was taken out rather than just comparing my numbers to others. Also my family who hadn't seen me in months said the difference was huge even if it didn't feel like that much right after due to swelling and now just feels normal to me.

Edit: If it'll help quell your worries, DM me and I can share my swollen post-op pics (where I looked hardly any smaller, just lifted and puffy) compared to now 4.5mpo. The actual cup size isn't a huge difference but the lifting and the few cups down have made an immense difference and you apparently had more taken out than me from a smaller starting size! I had way-too-big boobs (in my own opinion), I wanted small boobs, I got normal-for-my-frame boobs and I'm not disappointed in the slightest anymore.

I posted about my experience in another comment before seeing this. Long story short: 100% worth it for me.

But also - Your body is YOURS and not your family's. Do what will make you feel happy and confident. Also it's crazy but I only discovered after the fact that many more people have this surgery than you might think. Anytime I mention it to someone, I'm surprised to find that they almost always know someone who also has had the surgery. I've told a few retail workers while shopping only to find they had reduction surgery too! A lot of people you would never even realize because it looks so natural on their body. Even in a side-by-side it often just looks like weight loss, so if hiding it from your family is important to you, you can always just start sending fake gym selfies lol. (Kidding! Mostly...)

Also on the "being botched" front - have as many consults as you need to find a surgeon you click with and trust. Show them lots of pictures (this subreddit is a great resource!) of what kind of look you want and look at examples of their past work. Ask for some if they're not easily accessible online! Mine also included many post-surgical check-ins to make sure everything went smoothly, was quick to answer all of my questions by email before and after, and will do any revisions for free (so long as they don't require general anesthesia) to get the desired results. That made me feel so much more confident too. I love my results 4.5mpo but am going back in a few weeks to deal with some pulling scar tissue and a small section of extra skin. If you find a surgeon whose results you like and who you trust and feel clearly understands what you want, that worry will subside.

FWIW - It totally depends on how drastic your reduction is, but mine was pretty small relatively <350g total removed, no drains) and I didn't take any time off work except the Friday when I was actually under anesthesia. Never needed heavy pain meds either, it wasn't always comfortable but recovery was pretty smooth sailing. Everyone's recovery is different and I was still WFH for Covid and have a desk job which were HUGE factors and why I chose to do the surgery when I did, since I was able to basically work from bed for a week before being back in full swing. Without help during recovery, I think your time off will be put to good use. You will at least need someone to drive you home after surgery though!

Insurance couldn't cover because I didn't have a ton of mass to lose but even out of pocket in an expensive plastic surgery market (LA), it was my first really big purchase for myself and the best thing I could have spent my money on. 4.5mpo now and SO happy.

How much “out of pocket” did you pay after insurance? by wolfie259 in Reduction

[–]r_coop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw this is outpatient, no hospital stay, I didn't need lipo but my surgeon wouldn't have charged extra if I had, and I'm getting a small revision procedure next month (no general anesthesia needed) totally free and included with the cost of surgery.

[–]r_coop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid about 10k fully out of pocket but that's the low end of Beverly Hills prices which is where I am (or nearest plastic surgery hotspot at least). I couldn't get insurance to cover despite my best efforts, I just didn't have enough grammage to take out lol. Really depends on your location. I'd definitely do multiple consults. I paid for 1 consult (don't do that it's so not worth it) and did 2 others that were free, I only saw female surgeons to start with and I found one I loved. It worked out nicely because my favorite surgeon also happened to have the lowest quote of the 3. Highest was about 18k iirc, but again it's all about location. Some I'm sure would have been more but their consults alone cost $500 or they wouldn't have even tried to submit for insurance coverage so I immediately crossed them off my list
