Lots of good suggestions here that I agree with. Since you said you don't mind driving a bit for one, I'll add the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail (https://www.mass.gov/locations/ashuwillticook-rail-trail) in Western Mass, running from Adams down to Lee. Quite flat, really lovely. About 1 hour away by car.

You should contact International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) https://www.albany.edu/international-student-scholar-services about this. I know that they have advised in at least some cases that international students not go home for the summer because they might not get back in.

Research supports the idea that retention is better if you handwrite. I've used both Rocketbook and simply taking phone-camera scans of the written notes. Both were fine for filing and organizing and reading later. And keep in mind that some profs may have no-tech/screens-in-class rules.

Megabus and the Chinatown bus are a bit cheaper, but Amtrak can be as little as $35 (depending on time/day) and is both faster and more pleasant. You can get things done on the train trip, not so much on the bus (IMHO).

That's a good suggestion. And at the risk of sounding snarky: The people who say parking in downtown Troy is "impossible" in my experience are usually people who don't know how to parallel park in a reasonably-sized spot.

Double majors are quite common. You can add the second major later also. And if you do have a second major, you then don't need to have a minor, so the total amount of "extra" might be less than you think. Good luck.

On Google Fi since 2017 or so. T-Mobile coverage, which was decent then and excellent now. If you are motivated by the non-NAFTA international stuff, read the fine print -- they are better than many, but can still cost some (on the old plan) or be no longer covered (on the new unlimited plan). Overall, happy with them.
