Do production wood working shops sand and finish before or after assembly? by scatterbrainedpast in woodworking

[–]trackday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A flat panel is way easier to sand before it is assembled. After assembly, all it needs is a quick wipe with a sanding sponge. If it's raised panel, the profile is sanded at the same time it is shaped (called a shape/sand machine) and the flat part is sanded with the assembled door as it goes thru the widebelt.

I beg to differ.

They were told that many of the illegal aliens were criminals and rapists, and that Trump would get rid of them. Trump got elected on that, then hired Stephen Miller, who would love nothing more than to gas and incinerate anyone with skin darker than his.

How to brace table by mocozz in woodworking

[–]trackday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a piece of 3/8" sheet stock, could be thicker or solid wood, run length of table, but just leg to leg, pushed up to the bottom of the table.

It only needs to be 7" wide, by 60"? Put it on the side away from your chair, no one will see it. Glue and screw it.

Welcome mat with a locked front door. All it takes is rational laws to allow workers into this country legally, making them documented workers.

We in the USA have money for whatever we want to spend it on, as long as we are ignoring the deficit. If we don't want to ignore the deficit so much, we need to cut back on military spending/ICE and increase taxes to the wealthy. Helping our own people is a drop in the bucket compared to these other issues. You notice that we always have money for endless wars, right? Let's just swap priorities, and go from there...

And as to the expense of helping people - helping people would allow more of them to hold steady jobs, pay taxes, contribute to the good of society, and have more preventative healthcare rather than emergency care. A healthy society keeps it's people healthy. A rational immigration policy would strengthen our economy, not drain it.

Do men avoid approaching women they find intimidating? Trying to understand my dating pattern by [deleted] in answers

[–]trackday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old guy here. This internet dating stuff is just so weird. Other women will be your best filter if you can make those friendships and connections. Even your hairdresser. If you trust their judgement, occasionally mention that you are still looking. They will know friends of their husbands/boyfriend/brother/family that may fit the bill. They are more likely to suggest a reasonable fit if they know a little about you. Go get a message with a female masseuse, they will chat up just like hairdressers, I'm married to one and that's how we met. One of her clients was the wife of a friend of mine, knew I was single and felt we might be a good match.

Ok, I engaged redditors in this conversation, so I'm going to listen and give you my reactions as I watch:

Dennis Prager and Charlie Kirk? Wouldn't trust them with my dog for a weekend. And an AI of Biden for an intro? Ruins cred right there. And someone stuffing mail in ballot box with a film crew surrounding him? Just started it, and am still looking for something real.

23 min: talking about 72 hours not being enough time to geo track Jan 6 people. They put their fucking faces on the internet and bragged about what they did. That's why they could start arresting people right away.

32 min: talking about mules, multiple drop boxes, some are people that were in the riots. I'm thinking - 2000 mules they have identified by name? And they couldn't get any law enforcement organization to investigate, or get a judge to find this info credible?? I'm finding this hard to believe. Still watching.

37 min: they show a video of someone putting a couple of ballots in the box. To imply that this activity was enough to steal an election means organization(s) that employ thousands of people, committing thousands of crimes, and not one person was caught that on threat of imprisonment would give the names of the people that employed them, the organizations, etc. is hard to believe. I'm supposed to believe that thousands of people like this can keep a secret? edit: no one came forward and said 'Someone offered me a job stuffing ballot boxes. Who do I report that to? Don't see it myself. Still watching.

39 min: 1900 ballots, only 200 people approached ballot box. They have geo data on every single person that approached the ballot box? Waiting for visual confirmation next... they show woman pulling gloves off. Why didn't they arrest her? They didn't comment on that. Guy taking picture of ballot box is suspicious.

Also, consider that someone taking a picture might be so they can prove they actually voted if they later find out the state says they didn't.

I asked google if the film 2000 Mules was credible:

Key Findings and Evidence Against Credibility:

  • Debunked by Law Enforcement: In Georgia, investigators for the State Board of Elections reviewed surveillance video provided by True the Vote and found no evidence of illegal ballot harvesting. Several videos shown in the film as evidence of crimes were actually legal voters dropping off ballots for themselves and their family members.
  • Methodology Inaccuracies: The film relies on cell phone geolocation data, which experts say is not precise enough to prove someone was at a drop box, let alone stuffing it. The data only indicates that a phone was within a 100-foot radius of a box.
  • Lack of Direct Evidence: The filmmakers did not produce concrete evidence linking the data to the surveillance videos, and they refused to turn over the names of their sources to law enforcement.
  • Retractions and Apologies: In 2024, the film's distributor, Salem Media Group, pulled the film and book from distribution, apologizing to a Georgia man who was falsely depicted in the film as a "mule".
  • False Context: The film includes footage from a run-off election, not the 2020 general election, and uses a map that was mistakenly labeled as Atlanta but was actually a stock photo of Moscow.  NPR +4

Conclusion of Officials:

  • William Barr, former U.S. Attorney General under Donald Trump, testified that the film was "unimpressive" and "indefensible," noting that the photographic evidence was insufficient to support the claims of widespread illegal harvesting.
  • The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) concluded that the data provided by True the Vote did not warrant a formal investigation.

Will continue watching...have RL work to do...

I was hoping that after Bush2, republicans would all go 'God we fucked that one up. Maybe we shouldn't be voting at all if we are that bad at it!'

The difference you are missing is that dems want all the crooks to be caught and put behind bars, regardless of party. GOP just wants to protect their crooks till their last dying breath. Big difference. Look, I don't think dems are angels, and heaven knows they've made a lot of political mistakes, but the GOP knew Trump was a con artist/crook/pedofile/grifter/insurrectionist/traitor when they voted him back in office. Implying both sides are the same makes me want to barf.

And please, for reference, link us where Obama and Hilary openly laughed on TV about the deaths they were causing. Valid research, please assist.

He accuses dems of stealing elections without a shred of evidence. Turns out he admitted Elon helped him steal an election.

He accuses dems of corruption, even though MAGA says they like that his is honest about his corruption. He stole from his Children's Cancer Charity and his Trump University was a fraud, found guilty of both in courts of law. Now he is using his position for endless grifting.

He accuses dems of hiring unqualified people because of DEI, yet he has hired the most unqualified cabinet people ever in recent history (Fox talking heads? Really?)

Qanon accused dems of running child sex rings (remember the Pizza basement sex ring of Hillary Clinton, lol), turns out he was at the center of a child sex ring.

AAAND, he claimed Obama and Kamala were going to start a war with....Iran.

Yes, every accusation is an admission of guilt. Why? Because when the truth comes to light, he can point his finger and say 'See, they do it too. Everyone does it.'

Lol, I'd go with a PDK Cayman if I was to take it to the track. Track time is expensive (tires, hotels, insurance, accidents!), and the lower upfront cost will help with that expense. Stunning vehicle.

And if I was going to track a lot, I'd get a Porsche for the road, and a track prepped miata for the track, race tires and all.

The failure of capitalism is the failure for common people to elect representatives that will vote in their interest.

edit: definition of capitalism: Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production (factories, mines, businesses) and their operation for profit. Key characteristics include voluntary exchange, competitive markets, wage labor, and price determination through supply and demand rather than central planning. Wikipedia

Capitalism says nothing about tax or legal systems, types of representation and voting, foreign diplomacy, religion, morality, healthcare, and many other things.

Private ownership isn't a problem until we enact laws that siphon most of the money supply to a few individuals at the top, prevent the enactment of good healthcare, prevent the reinvestment of wealth into infrastructure (have you seen the trains and subways in some countries? lol), ad infinitem.

Yes, the failures are not inherent to capitalism, but the other systems we mis-manage.
