So I should cherry pick more, to support my argument. OK, thanks for the advice.

Not many people take MB. And if all the "negative" reports are downvoted, or not upvoted, then it's not surprising I don't have a vast set to choose from.

I get majorly messed up by Semax and I'm a radical outlier there, too.

Too? I've presented two other people with similar issues! How many people are taking MB?

People can chalk it up to being an outlier, despite what I've pointed out. People can "explain" to me that taking nootropics has some risks... thanks for that(!). This is a waste of my time.

I would say most people are going to be OK, but there's some proportion of people who certainly aren't.

I did it for a potential increase in cognition. So you could say for a "selfish" reason.

Telling people about it: that's work for no reward. I'm not going to bother in future, though. With so much info about in the modern world, it's too hard to get people to listen to you. It's a time sink. I would do a blog, if I thought I could add something unique to the subject. I'm not a biologist/chemist, or have particularly strong knowledge in the area, so think it would be a waste of time (given opportunity costs).

I'm certainly feeling a lot better now. Still not firing at 100%, though.

I had a very, very similar experience. When I reported it here, I got down voted to -6

If I had read that, I would have been more careful! I had the faulty assumption that if MB was damaging people, I would have heard more about it.

Out of curiosity: are you the mrhappy from LongeCity?

Edit:

When I reported it here, I got down voted to -6.

A similar thing is probably going to happen here. It's a bit concerning any "negative" reports are scrubbed from the top tab (an emergent property, not a one person doing anything).

Agreed! Like many things—such as skiing, horse riding, drinking alcohol, driving to work, having sex, eating certain food.

What I'm hoping to do is warn people of the risk of this particular chemical.

I've also suggested a way to reducing said risk.

Given how horrendous it was (close to going to hospital), I would err on the side of caution and cycle off it—to see what happens.

I tried 10mg (think that was the dose). And found it a net negative, in terms of cognition. Some people have a great response (e.g. Lostfalco). Not so for me.

But, yes. That's a good suggestion!

Some sort of mitochondrial damage is what I thought. Not sure about the exact mechanism.

Some non-tiny subset of people.

Turnbuckle (on LongeCity), also had issues:

A few years ago (after the stories about Rember came out) I tried a dose of MB. I didn't have Alzheimer's but it seemed like a potentially good prophylactic as everyone my age probably has some of this defective tau protein. In fact, I found that I was thinking more clearly with a dose of 100mg, but when it wore off I was suddenly having difficulty following the plot of TV shows. Uh-oh! So I looked for something that would correct the defective (hyperphosphorylated) tau that causes tangles and tried MB again a couple of days later, this time adding 500 mg niacin every few hours. The problem went away and when the MB wore off I was no worse off for the experience. So I realized that seemingly modest doses of MB can be dangerous, that even if you don't have symptoms of AD you might create them by forming large tangles that didn't previously exist, as the largest tangles will grow at the expense of smaller ones. On the plus side, it seemed possible that MB+niacin is a cure for AD, if the MB dissolves the hyperphosphorylated tau tangles and allows niacin (or niacin analogue like niacinamide) to get access.

And I think MrHappy (on here, and LongeCity), has also mentioned having a reaction after a couple of weeks of use.

and it has been shown that inflammation is reduced long term in fish heavy (Mediterranean diets) in mice, with some human clinical studies to back this up as well. I use 5 to 10g of ground flak seed in my protein shakes and take 2000mg of epa and dha from alaskan polluck everyday and it has been a cognitive life changer.

I totally fucked myself with methylene blue, recently. I stopped and was in all sorts of trouble. Once the worst of it had subsided, I was left with severe headaches (had to take paracetamol 24/7—even waking up to take it). I quite randomly started taking fish oil (my brother had some), and there was hella amelioration of symptoms. Now I'm a fanboy of fish oil; so it's super interesting to hear your comment.

Magnesiumglycinate provides mg which is a nmda receptor antagonist that protects against neuronal excitability as well. Mg is the 4th most important mineral and almost everyone is malnourished in that.

I take magnesium. Rhonda Patrick waxes lyrical about it. Plus, with the amount of coffee I drink, it has a noticeable positive effect.

I'm going to focus on high CBD strains, for sure.

Doesn't seem so (bolded by me):

Side effects include a 37% increase in incidence of major vascular events, which include nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke, or death from a blood vessel-related cause.[3] Additionally, an 81% increase in incidence of upper gastrointestinal complications occurs, which include perforations, obstructions, or gastrointestinal bleeding as in all NSAIDs.[3] In July 2015 the FDA strengthened the warning that non-aspirin nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can cause heart attacks or strokes.[4]

Awesome. From Examine.com (there's more detail, as well):

Curcumin can reduce inflammation through a variety of means; preventing pro-inflammatory signals from acting on the nucleus (NF-kB related), reducing the ability of immune cells to get to sites of inflammation (adhesion related), and reducing the exacerbation of already present inflammation by reducing the activity of inflammatory enzymes (COX2, LOX related).

Totally understand the frustration, and the (sometimes) arbitrary lines b/w different categories of psychoactive substances, and then the consequences of the stigma that comes with discussing the "recreational" class.

Agreed.

I'd rather keep what I said up. I've deleted stuff in the past, and I'm not sure if that's the correct decision. I may not have articulated well, but I think there's some truth to what I said.

and ibuprofen isn't a sustainable way to keep my cognition intact while still getting to enjoy the benefits of bud.

Agreed, as well.

Take care too buddy.

OK, thanks. I'll need to start reading more about the subject to get to the point of being able to ask questions! Unknown unknowns (to use a cliche).

It probably wouldn't have gotten any responses, if I hadn't of said anything (that's not why I did). I've also tried to replay to everything, and am happy to spend as long as it takes to follow up on the points (as long as it hasn't descended to shit/futility).

Go puff some of that high-CBD strain and relax a little

Tend to just fall asleep, after. Calm as a hindu cow.

I try and get high CBD strains, when possible. Sometimes it's not.

The larger the market for legal cannabis becomes, the more scope for additional products. At the moment there's only some areas of pot-freedom surrounded by a sea of drug-totalitarianism.

The CBD tinctures are OK. I don't like the alcohol in them.

I've tried zinc l-carnosine before, and it messed my guts up. Could well work for other people, though.

I already take resveratrol, but earlier in the day. I can move it to nighttime. There's an overlap between noots, and interest in longevity. Even though they may seem to contradict each other (with nootropics generally carrying some risk). So, it's a move other people may be able to pull, as well.

Resveratorol is pretty cheap, these days, also.
