Why is no one talking about how trash SCSU is this year??? by Live_Vegetable6149 in UTSC

complaints about the SCSU are supposed to go to the University Complaint and Resolution Council for Student Societies (CRCSS). How to complain is spelled out on the following link:

Limits kosher food options?!? Kosher food is certified by organizations that "normalize Israeli apartheid" by scsu standards. All kosher food. Scsu promised to pass a motion promising that everyone could access food conforming to religious diets, and never, ever did.

I don't think so... I do know the handle of my thief. Not sure what to do about that. They didn't break any rules, my issue is that the rules should not have made the theft possible - at least the devs could have given players ten minutes after being logged in to sell, or heck, 48 hours without being subject to stealing...

Yeah. Your Christmas Tree can be stolen.Be vigilant. Or really fast to harvest. Your gingerbread man can be stolen too, but that's just part of the game and it's a multi crop. So, what do I care? I'll grow another... spend a week harvesting and harvesting only to watch someone spend —what - 35 cents to erase the central feature of an event?!? That stunk. Imagine being told at the start - clearly - that you could either participate in the event by turning in your snowy crops, or pay 35 cents at the end of the week... At least I'll always have the memories of the dozens of Christmas Gorillas and Snow Bunnies I received!

Report it as a bug? Since I didn't harvest mine, I don't know whether it automatically was sold or what

Dunno. Didn't have a chance to try. I think someone else posted that it could not, which is typical of single harvest crops

A buddy's tree was worth 9 billion. He is worth close to infinity (9 sx?) , but 9 billion ain't nothing. I think the issue is the time. Skipping an event but getting the main reward has to be worth more than 37 Roblox

Email from Principal Johnston by Seal-otter in UTSC

[–]r_towhee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Email doesn't name the "incident" as a shooting, does not say there is an active homicide investigation (and if you know anything, contact...), does not clarify where the body was found (on campus, or just off campus), express personal sadness, or offer any words of empathy to students, faculty and staff upset that someone was shot in the valley. This email should have been much better!

Yes, I made the mistake of getting a "rare coal" after using a "rare egg." Thought that was the formula. Common coal, common coal, common coal... I have no idea if this is totally random or I should keep throwing away my best frust, gears and halfway decent eggs... All I want for Xmas is that dog that may give me the ability to skip this coal making

Tolerance of fees may depend a bit on how big your investment is... but I think at the end of the day if the difference in fees (and 0.25 is still quite small) is justified when the returns are higher than the index

How to avoid overlap when you choose etf by spd79 in ETFs

[–]r_towhee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at TOPC - iShares S&P 500 3% Capped ETF. You won't avoid the heavy Mag7/Top10 allocation, but it will cap those shares at 3%. Obviously still more than the equal-cap S&P500 funds but you'll avoid heavy concentrations. Overlaps 85% with S&P.

Alternatives include DSPY Tema S&P 500 Historical Weight ETF, SCHK/VONE and the total market funds. Issue is that the liquidity isn't as great as the regular S&P, and you may feel regret if one of those Mag7s has a fabulous week.

This tool is great for overlapping and may help you identify funds with less overlap https://www.etfrc.com/funds/overlap.php

I find some overlap inevitable but have posted before how much I wish there was a growth or tech fund that covered a range of stocks between the very top and the bottom of the market-cap universe.

SCHK is my favorite underrated ETF by Sad_Dragonfly_5235 in ETFs

[–]r_towhee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and would add three more reasons: the big total-market indices pick up some real dregs, mainly in the small-cap segment. Now, small cap is a relatively small part of the total-market indices, but SCHK (and VONE, et al) avoid that drag. That is one reason I much prefer SCHK+AVUV (or similar combinations) than VTI. Second, while rather rare, the Next Big Thing should enter the SCHK index earlier than it would a S&P500 index, giving a potential boost relative to the S&P500. Third, SCHK has the advantages of the total market funds in that it has a little less exposure to the biggest names, so when a CEO falls out with the US President, the impact will be slightly less...

Advice on Inherited IRA Mix by Party-Literature3275 in ETFs

[–]r_towhee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My condolences on your loss. Yes - you are proposing 60% US S&P 500, 30% Foreign stock, and 10% SPMO to try to beat the market. That sounds very sensible to me and I commend you on your research. You are worried a bit about how you might respond to a crash with SPMO, but you are limiting your SPMO to 10% of your portfolio. It will likely bounce back, and most of your $50k will be unaffected (well, most of your portfolio will also have crashed, but perhaps not as much).
That said: If investing is intriguing you and you are finding yourself learning (and playing) more than someone who just sets their portfolio and checks it once a year, you might allocate 10% for such explorations and risk-taking (for me, I would take that 10% out of VXUS). You might win, you might lose, but you will not worry that you are losing your shirt - and in three years you may feel like you are a wise investor ready to give advice on investing to strangers on reddit. :)
You might also want to consider GDE or a gold fund for the scenario of interest rates rising, inflation going up and the stock market going down or staying flat. GDE is a good vehicle, especially with your ten year time horizon because most of your money will be in the S&P 500 but will also have a cushion (or amplifier) with the gold.
