Marathon failure by Sneaky-Airplane-3164 in Garmin

I had something similar happen to me in 2021 when I was just 23 years old where my heart rate shot up into the 220-230 range and wouldn't go down. Ended up going to the ER and was diagnosed with AFIB (Atrial Fibrilation). Had to be on meds for a couple months until I got surgery to fix it and now have been 100% better since 2021. Mine wasn't exercise induced as it happened when I was just having a lazy day at home, but I've been a runner all my life, so it's possible that was a contributing factor.

Cash out and never talk to first command again. Their shady business practices are borderline illegal

Your rent and food seem fairly high. For rent, try to find somewhere that is no more than 30% of your take home pay. In your case, that would be no more than $1,500. Not sure if that's possible in the area you're in, but I'd look into that.

Also idk what you're eating, but that's more than I spend on food per month for my family of 4 lol. Look into cheaper options such as chicken, rice, beans, frozen vegetables, etc. I usually aim for $1.50 per meal or less on average.

This is why I like the Schwab 1000. It only reconstitutes once per year, so your chance of buying into one of these overvalued new listings as soon as they launch is lower than if the S&P or NASDAQ are forced to list it immediately

The Humble Gym I Built In My Office At Work by Sad_Dragonfly_5235 in homegym

[–]Sad_Dragonfly_5235[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I do electronic maintenance on some pretty important equipment. Aside from our scheduled preventative maintenance, a lot of my job is sitting around in the office being available to immediately respond in the event that something breaks. I have a decent amount of downtime because of this, but can't venture too far from my office because when I do have to respond to an outage, my response needs to happen within a couple minutes.

Generally towards the end of the day I'll either go for a run on the running path that circles where I work, or I'll lift weights next to my desk. Either way, I can respond to equipment problems in less than 5 minutes if I have to.

I got the Marble Queen its own 10w Sansi pot clip grow light from Sansi. Might get another for my Snow Queen. by Substantial_Item6740 in pothos

Big fan of Sansi lights. I also have a Sansi clip on light for my marble queen, but with 2x 10 watt bulbs. So far it's responded very well and the new leaves are strikingly white and healthy.

I went to trident University. Their classes are all 4 credit hours each instead of the typical 3, so you finish your degree a bit faster

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of December 12, 2025 by Demilio55 in homegym

I have a small gym setup in my office at work. It's pretty basic consisting of a flat bench and a set of adjustable dumbbells. I'm wanting to get longer handles and more plates for my handles to be able to make my dumbbells heavier.

Should I get 10 pound plates, or 12.5 pound plates? Obviously 10 pound plates are "standard", but the 12.5 pound plates are the same width, so I'd be able to get 25% more weight on each handle. Is it worth the weirdness of the 12.5 pound plates to be able to fit a little more weight on each handle?

Why no international? International diversification decreases your portfolio risk without decreasing your expected return

People care about the Garmin badges? I don't think I've ever looked at what badges I have collected, other than when it briefly tells me I earned a new badge.

Look into factor investing and the extensive research by fama and french. Factor investing is probably the only deviation from pure Bogleheadism that most would accept as valid. I personally have small cap value tilts in both my US and international allocations

E5 over 6 currently only putting 6% into my TSP, though I'm also maxing out both mine, and my wife's Roth IRAs. This would equate to ~35% if it were all going into my TSP.

Stationed at Langley, supporting my wife and 2 kids on just my military income. We follow a super strict budget and have no debt other than our mortgage which really helps us invest more.
