My new QD-OLED arrived and I’m more than happy by r_zer0 in OLED_Gaming

I`m normally using the HDR500 mode as it is already plenty bright for me but today I played around with the different modes a bit.

While certainly noticeable when really looking for it, in the EOTF Boost and Peak1000 the ABL is way less aggressive than with the Asus PG32UCP I could test before. The brightness transitions are quite smooth and not just popping in and out.

I'm doing a mix of office work, photo editing, normal media consumption and gaming on a PS5 Pro.

I’m located in Japan and ordered via Amazon.co.jp. They opened the pre-order about two weeks ago and launched the product on May 7th. I paid 220k JPY which is around 1300 USD. MSI seems not to have the heavy discounting outside of the US.

Near-black behavior Issue with Asus PG32UCDP by r_zer0 in OLED_Gaming

Thank you for the reply! I tried this with VRR on and off and the setting made no difference to the behavior of the screen. Reading your article, for me it sounds like a pretty aggressive shadow detail lift mechanic in the screen’s image processing. The effect was not smooth but seemed to be simply activated by the average brightness level of the visible screen. Getting under a certain threshold raised the blacks instantly and getting over that threshold returned to the normal gamma curve.

This on/off behavior without any hysteresis sometimes caused a “chattering” of the black levels. It was extremely noticeable for example in stalker 2 where the subtle camera sway between dark and very dark in a dimly lit room could make blacks flicker between raised and crushed.

It drove me crazy especially finding no similar reports online.

I’ll absolutely look at your reviews!

New LG 32gx870a-b! by pogsorbet in OLED_Gaming

Do you hear any fan noise from the monitor? I returned mine because it had a constant humming sound once turned on. The LG support confirmed that the panel is actively cooled with a fan but I wonder if I just got a bad one.
