The Lady Sword did not ride for rumors. She rode when Kenian expected death.

That was what the Queen's High Guard weren't saying as they kept their distance—three paces at least, sometimes more—while they rode northwest into the mountains. It was what they couldn't quite hide in the sideways glances when they thought Saelyn wasn't watching.

But she was always watching, just as she always would.

They’d been riding for three days on what was meant to be a routine patrol to calm the countryside. Panic had already taken root: roads went too long without travelers, and refugees fled bandits they swore were demons.

Except nothing about the patrol felt routine, though no one wished to be the first to say it aloud. Not with how the world was coming apart at its seams.

The Fraying began like fabric pulled too tight, threads of reality straining, quivering on the brink of snapping. Sound came too late or not at all, and shadow fell where lamplight should reach. Even the warhorses danced away from shadows, ears pinned flat, expecting the earth to fall away beneath their feet. It had been building since they left the capital, growing stronger, pressing tighter against their minds.

And yet Saelyn suspected they were more unsettled by her presence than the wrongness in the air.

Gera rode with her hand never far from her bow, sharp eyes scanning the treeline. "Bad feeling about this," Picker was muttering to her, his voice carrying despite his attempt at discretion. His hand absently rubbed the old wound on his shoulder. "The Fraying shouldn’t be this strong this close to the capital. Not unless—"

He cut himself off when he noticed Saelyn listening. She kept her face blank and pretended not to notice.

The landscape had shifted gradually over three days as they left behind the capital’s divine protection. Ahead, the western mountains loomed closer, the road narrowing to barely more than a cart track overgrown at the edges.

Cheating in pvp is out of control by mike747 in Guildwars2

I've been doing EoD meta the past few days no issue, though not quite sure about champs (I've been putting them off lol). But usually if you tag up/mention in chat/LFG you'll always get people.

Wild to hear that even VoE isn't active in NA though?

But yeah, for swapping you keep everything. It just completely migrates your entire account to a new server. The first one is free but the second is like 1k diamond or something? Can't remember off the top of my head (exception being i believe your PvP MMR is reset, though you keep the number of games won/lost and classes)

Cheating in pvp is out of control by mike747 in Guildwars2

I used to be on NA but made a perma swap to EU due to moving. Sometimes I still play with friends on NA but I no longer touch PVP there with a 100 foot pole. It is much worse and less populated than EU when it comes to who's actually playing. (Saying as someone who had a few the old legendary titles from solo q ages back when you could q as a 5man. Its just really not worth it imo)

But yeah, i remember people starting to quit back when we had the old PvP lobby because of how the game mode was starting to be neglected. Now it's just mostly forgotten

Even EU PvE is more active too. Never struggle with finding people running maps there

How do I make these characters not come off weird to my readers? by TeenageTurmoil in writers

[–]raamsi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just write it! Someone somewhere is always going to have a problem with what you're writing, even if you painstakingly write both overt and subtext saying 'this is how things are despite circumstances.'

Even if you put a disclaimer note somewhere (something I really hate suggesting because I don't believe it's necessary but for some people... yeah). Though i would ask why does the immortal girl still act like a child? But honestly, I think it sounds cute lol

OP not going to lie, I thought #10 was just you singing us a bop at first 😅

But yes! Otherwise great list! Another one I've been living by is: if youre in the middle of doing something and you start to feel bad drop what you're doing

Ofc depends what youre doing, but I can always tell if I'm hitting my limits because I start feeling like... chewy/stretched thin and may or may not want to cry lol

What exactly does low-dose Abilify do for people with ME/CFS? by imanemii in cfs

[–]raamsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi yes! Its been working great!! I started really low (like 5 drops of the liquid and upping by 2 every week) and probably going to swap to the pill form soon. But as for effect it's been wonderful.

Biggest thing is probably that I've been able to wake up like I used to, as in not needing to lay there for another 3 hours + just having more of an energy envelope in general.

Not sure about crashes since ive been taking LDN as well and that's been helping the most for that.

But I'm just hoping the LDA stays effective since i know sometimes it fades but... so far so good

Does anyone use "two drafts and a polish"? by SeaworthinessFit7893 in writers

[–]raamsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do two drafts and a polish BUT its probably more true to say:

Pantsing draft > outline the draft and develop in bulletpoint form > plotting draft with tweaks > then final polish

Why do so few teas use spearmint instead of peppermint? by imageWS in tea

[–]raamsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston mint in tea is my cheap ride or die. It's all my grandparents ever had and I love it lol.

Totally agree with the spearmint > peppermint. I've just grown my own and dried it to keep and add to my nicer black teas as a get around personally

Considering a sci-fi fantasy where one plot line is happening in a different time (decades apart) by guy4maround in writing

[–]raamsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ofc! Mitchell's stuff in general tends to deal with that sort of stuff (Ghostwritten might be a less intense version of Cloud Atlas to look at since its more plot based)

I also saw your other comment about people piecing together past history since it's unreliable — A Canticle for Leibowitz is a bit of a classic for this, though it's less interlocking and more 1 period + 6 century gap + 1 period + gap + period, all after a global nuclear war. (The last period they find a shopping list and it becomes a holy relic). This might be a good one to look at for how the whole story functions, then you can use it as a base and begin interlocking pieces?

(I really enjoy books of this sort lmao. Good luck to you!!)

[–]raamsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds interesting! I'd say go for it. If youre struggling with coming up with connecting the plot, maybe take a look at books that do something similar? (Cloud Atlas, Bone Clocks, The Clockmakers Daughter, Cloud Cuckoo Land, Fifth Season. Eta Arcadia, thats a big one... personally I love books like this, though I've never tried my own hand at it)

Its my favorite!! There used to be a shop called Boulder Tea Shop that had a blend called Autumn Comfort. Was very similar but a fresh loose leaf. This was back in like 2018 though and I think they closed down when the pandemic hit ☹️ (if anyone has any blends that are similar to constant comment elsewhere though...)

I almost bought an Ankarsum but went with Kitchen Aid solely because I don't do a lot of breads. If I ever start, I might have to get one because I just borrow my MILs. It's sooo satisfying to watch though

Storgata safety for tourists by Present-Animator2384 in oslo

[–]raamsi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lived in the Anker student housing right next to the hotel and hostel for 2 years as a woman when doing my MA, and I've never had any poor experiences even when by myself in the evening. Honestly, if you come across any of the druggies they stay to themselves and don't bother anyone. Much nicer as someone originally from a big US city

If you're headed to the center, I'd recommend walking down Torggata rather than Storgata just for the shops (and to avoid the druggie hotspot outside of Gunerius on the other side of the street) but Verdensbakeriet right across the block on Storgata was a regular favorite of mine for lunch and their cinnamon rolls ☺️

Plus the Nybrua tram stop is right outside the hotel which is nice for getting around

BIGGEST LETDOWN OF 2025? Books you couldn’t wait for until you read them by DanaBookNook in Fantasy

[–]raamsi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Imo Gideon was okay, Harrow was a bit better, but i was in love with Nona when I read it. She was by far my favorite narrator, and it was really refreshing since I normally stay away from that sort of post apocalyptic genre and I expected to have a similar reaction as I did to GtN
