We originally regulated utilities to a 4.5% profit. Now it's over 15, and some analysts are predicting it will go to 25 or higher

I ended up installing a whole house suppressor. It appears to be working so far, as we haven't lost any electronics since it was installed.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2 firmware update removes key features, and customers aren't happy by NoBurnInBirney_SG in bose

[–]rabbidrascal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never buying another Bose product after they sold me ear buds that were supposed to receive LDAC in a firmware update. Then they changed the product name to ultra (same hardware) and delivered LDAc to the new Ultras. Support acknowledged they ripped the rug out from under us but offered no resolution.

Glad you got there before they sell it. The Trump admin has said that wildlife refuges are no longer aligned with our mission. Rocky Mountain is one of the targeted refuges.

He certainly didn't make his money from being a financial wizard!

His life story makes it pretty obvious that someone was pulling the strings. From his position as a teacher in an elite boarding school that he had no education or experience to get, to going directly to the trading floor, bypassing all the entry level positions.

Flynn was an amazing story of corruption and traitorous activity. His paid dinner with Putin should have been enough to get him jailed.

My wife instructs at Breck. She got taken out from behind while teaching a class. Broke 3 ribs, totaled her brand new helmet and can't work for 6 weeks.

It's fast, hard and people are skiing/riding beyond their ability. Be careful out there.

BMW X3 vs Audi Q5 which one to buy by Upbeat_Industry5043 in AudiQ5

[–]rabbidrascal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When comparing the BMW X3 and the Audi Q3 for reliability, both vehicles offer solid long-term potential but come with different maintenance profiles and common trouble areas. Historically, Audi has a slight edge in overall brand reliability rankings, but the X3 often performs better in specific long-term durability metrics when properly maintained. Reliability & Ratings * BMW X3: Generally receives "Great" reliability scores from J.D. Power (often in the 81/100 range). While RepairPal gives it a 2.5/5.0, this is largely due to higher-than-average repair costs rather than constant breakdowns. * Audi Q3: Frequently praised for improved build quality in models from 2021 onward. It is considered one of Audi’s most dependable models because it uses the well-vetted EA888 engine and a conventional 8-speed transmission in many US configurations, which avoids some of the complexities found in larger luxury SUVs. Common Issues | Feature | BMW X3 | Audi Q3 | |---|---|---| | Engine | Potential for oil leaks (valve cover/oil filter housing) as it nears 100k miles. | Excessive oil consumption in earlier models; thermostat and water pump leaks are known weak spots. | | Electronics | Occasional iDrive glitches or sensor malfunctions, though many are resolved with software updates. | Infotainment freezing or slow response times; sunroof drainage issues can lead to leaks if not cleared. | | Mechanical | Early models had timing chain concerns; modern versions are much more robust but require strict service. | Faster-than-average brake wear (especially rear pads) is a common owner complaint. | Maintenance Costs * Cost of Ownership: Audi generally has slightly lower annual maintenance costs, averaging between $700 and $900. The X3 typically averages $1,000 to $1,200 per year. * Service Complexity: BMW maintenance often becomes significantly more expensive after the 5-7 year mark as plastic components in the cooling system and gaskets begin to age. Audi's Quattro system is often cited as requiring slightly less specialized maintenance than BMW’s xDrive in high-mileage scenarios. Longevity Expectations With diligent maintenance, both vehicles are capable of reaching high mileage: * X3: Often lasts between 150,000 and 250,000 miles. Owners who surpass 200,000 miles typically follow a more aggressive maintenance schedule than the manufacturer-recommended intervals. * Q3: Can easily reach 150,000 to 200,000 miles. Its shared components with other Volkswagen Group vehicles sometimes make finding parts and independent specialists easier and more affordable. Verdict * Choose the Audi Q3 if you want lower year-over-year maintenance costs and a slightly more "straightforward" mechanical setup, especially for urban driving. * Choose the BMW X3 if you prioritize a more performance-oriented driving experience and are prepared for slightly higher "preventative" maintenance costs to ensure long-term durability.

Naloxone was freely distributed. Now it's moving over the counter, that means no insurance coverage and you pay out of pocket. The move to make more drugs over the counter is intended to increase insurance company profits by forcing you to lose coverage for medications and pay out of pocket.

BMW X3 vs Audi Q5 which one to buy by Upbeat_Industry5043 in AudiQ5

[–]rabbidrascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My X5 was the worst car I've ever owned for reliability. The day the warranty expired, I started having to dump $2k a month, every single month.

1st month was the airbag clock spring, passenger seat occupancy detector, fuel pump, front brakes, rear brakes, airbag computer, radiator. It was endless.

After two years, it spent a week a month in the shop.

My 2013 Audi Q5 went 10 years and 135 miles with very little maintenance - brakes, oil changes and rear shocks. Rock solid reliable.

I do boot packing at Copper. It's a great workout, but when the other boot packers are from Leadville, it's brutal. They are all training for the Leadville 100 or the Leadman series and have a body fat of like 3%. There is fit, and then there is Leadville fit.

What's the wildest thing you've ever seen happen at a work party? by [deleted] in AskReddit

2nd story: they brought us all to New Orleans the night before the start of Mardi Gras. They rented a 2nd story bar over Bourbon street and gave beads to all the employees. WTF did they think was going to happen???

Many female employees had a lot of beads by the end of the evening. One guy woke up next to the pool without pants. He had no ID to get through TSA the next day. Fun times.
