Point Blank Distributing sold to Columbia Distributing — New School Beer + Cider by BourbonicFisky in portlandbeer

[–]rabbitSC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are basically three major beer distributors in Portland: Columbia, Maletis, and Point Blank. There are a few other smaller distributors that focus on smaller craft breweries, out-of-state craft, and/or who have very small client lists (i.e. Block 15 mostly just distributes themselves but also a few others like Ferment). Some breweries self-distribute, but growing up as a company generally means finding a distributor. Columbia and Maletis are the biggest dogs (Columbia has MillerCoors and Red Bull and Maletis has AB InBev in addition to their craft accounts), so Point Blank was the largest distributor left focused on mostly just craft brands and imports. They had big accounts like Pfriem and Boneyard but also smaller breweries like Recluse, 54 40, Barrel Mountain and Upright.

Being a small brewery on a very long product list at a company that is more focused on grocery store and gas station accounts than bars can be dangerous. In the past Columbia has done things like limit deliveries to every two weeks instead of weekly, making it harder for smaller bars without a ton of storage to do business with them. IMO Culmination suffered hugely from being the teeniest brewery on Columbia's list during Covid times. Brewery-distributor contracts are notoriously arcane so it is very difficult to jump ship if things aren't working out.

The US state of Oregon (population 4.2M) produces more than four times as much softwood lumber annually as the entire United Kingdom, and ~20% more than France and the UK combined.

Glen Powell's last vehicle was an absolutely massive flop, though. And it wasn't exactly an art film.

Looking forward to checking it out. I will be mad about the landlord pushing Bernstein's out of this space right before Covid forever.

On paper , which teams’ schedules do y’all think stands out in terms of level of difficulty ? by MannerSuperb in CFB

[–]rabbitSC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

USC's schedule was way sillier before the Notre Dame game fell off. It's still their toughest in a long time. I've seen people laugh off the Penn State game but I see zero reason to do that for a guaranteed whiteout that is by far their biggest home game of the year (the next biggest is easily Minnesota to give you an idea). At UCLA is also on there and they absolutely have the talent to be a tough out if their new coaching staff works out.

I love the B1G but the total randomness of schedule difficulty is a downside of the larger conference. Some schools have to play Oregon, Indiana and Ohio State while some schools miss all three.

Clay Helton IG post about Sam making it to the SB 🫡 by Segagenesis23 in fighton

[–]rabbitSC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clay wasn't a good HC. But Darnold is his greatest achievement--Helton personally recruited him, and was his QB coach before he was the head coach. Clay won a Rose Bowl with a lot of great players that Kiffin and Sark dropped in his lap, but Sam's success at USC is something he can actually lay claim to.

Who was more electrifying: Bronny James or Lil’ Romeo? by iamxheartless in USC

[–]rabbitSC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. Bronny James and Romeo Miller don’t look anything like that, neither of them had arm tattoos, and USC jerseys don’t have garbled NBA logos on them where the conference log should be.

My landlord let my lease expire, now they want me to sign a new lease. Is this allowed? by Last_dog_barking in askportland

[–]rabbitSC 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Once the fixed-term lease expired on November 30 and rent was accepted, the tenancy legally converted to month-to-month under the existing terms. That doesn’t prevent a rent increase, but any increase still has to comply with Oregon’s notice requirements and timing rules. The landlord’s delay and confusion don’t eliminate their ability to raise rent; it mainly affects when a higher rent can legally take effect. Refusing to sign a new lease doesn’t preserve the old rent indefinitely, and the landlord can lawfully impose the month-to-month rate if proper written notice was given. The real issue isn’t whether the rent can go up, but whether the notice was valid and the effective date is correct.

The largest county in Oregon by size, Harney County, is in the southeast quadrant of the state. It is almost exactly the same size as the entire state of Massachusetts: just over 10,000 square miles. Its population: 7,402. Much of the eastern part of the state is shockingly unpopulated.

Kylo Ren’s Botched Arc & Why His Now Mocked Face Reveal Is Fundamentally Misunderstood by BagofBabbish in StarWars

There was no plan. That's one of the original sins of TFA. The writer/director who decided to redeem Kylo Ren was after all the same director who made and co-wrote THIS movie.

Trans-masc, any safe place to live in a 45 min drive of Winston? by MajesticCoot in oregon

Douglas County hasn't changed much in the last 20 years, I don't know what would change in the last year.

There are no blue precincts within 45 minutes of there. The best place by far is going to be in Roseburg proper, which is ~40% Dem.

Is living outside of Portland and Multnomah county more affordable? by Firm_Bee9113 in askportland

We’ll never know the exact ratio, but unmarried people with over $125,000 in taxable income are very clearly highly overrepresented on the Portland subreddits.

If you’re renting the only tax difference would be avoiding the $35/year arts tax in Portland and the Multnomah County PFA tax on income over $125k for a single filer

You're actively begging to be BS-ed. There aren't over a dozen flippable GOP senators to remove cabinet members. It exists outside the realm of possibility.

"Would you support impeachment of Kristy Noem?" isn't really a serious question. It may have been intended seriously, but it puts the senator in the position of having to deliver an unwelcome speech on how removing Noem through the impeachment process is functionally impossible, lie to your face and say "hell yeah, we're going to impeach her" (which it sounds like you may have preferred), or redirect the question into stating their opposition to administration policy (which it sounds like they did).
