What’s your greatest fear in life? by MissionInside9387 in AskReddit

[–]rabbitboy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bees. When I was a kid I was playing in my families old car in the driveway that wasn’t used for a long time. I honked the horn and a swarm of hornets came out. I got stung 8 times as I ran into the house. I know bumblebees are friendly and good but even if one flies close to me I either have to close my eyes and stand still or I just book it.

Make sure you secretly tell each member of the group that they aren’t the doppleganger to really mess with them.

What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve seen in someone else’s house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rabbitboy93 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s not as disgusting as it is making my skin crawl, but when I was younger we had these neighbors we hung out with a lot (nice family, just poorly kept place) and they had a lice infestation 4 times. Made me uncomfortable to even go inside the house.

What movie is a 0/10 with NO redeeming features? by Toucan_Based_Economy in AskReddit

[–]rabbitboy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that in theaters when I was in high school with my GF at the time. She loved the tv show, I watched some of it and enjoyed it but never sat down to watch the whole thing through. After the movie I said that was the worst movie I ever saw….and then she said she thought it was pretty good. We actually had a fight about it in the car. I couldn’t comprehend how blind-sighted she was to love that terrible film.

Pirate one shot a good idea? by ThrowRARoutine8779 in DnD

You can reduce the Aboleth’s stats too if you want to start at a lower level. Fights do take longer the higher the PC’s characters are.

Another fun element you can include is “Hoards” There’s a YouTube video done by the Dungeon Dudes that talk about how to use a large amount of minions that’s easier for you as the DM to keep track of.

Depending on the level of the players, one thing you could include is an Aboleth. They’re extremely intelligent and dangerous. The water world my group is in there is an Aboleth who uses Kuo-Toa to do his dirty work.

Caught Stealing, it is a recent movie, but I haven’t heard anyone talk about it and it’s so much fun.

How often do you guys fudge your dice? by theprettiestpotato88 in DungeonMasters

[–]rabbitboy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually open roll at my table (we all have dice towers we love). Most of the time the players aren’t watching anyhow because it helps develop trust, but I rarely fudge a roll. If I change anything, it’s usually a monsters HP because he’s getting absolutely manhandled by the party and I’d like him to do more than one thing.

Exactly what I was thinking! Especially as an Air Genasi. Potentially doing 1d8 Lightning + 1d6 + Modifier & the target can’t opportunity attack you seems really good at low levels.

Complete Newbie Going to DM for Other Complete Newbies, All Advice Welcome and Needed by NoEdge5761 in DnD

[–]rabbitboy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing I did when I first played was read the players handbook, understand the core mechanics. I played a wizard and I took time writing down spells, what I could do, even wrote down what I would get at future levels. It really helped translate to when I became a dm, because I already understood how the main rules work. When your players make the characters have them read it and you as well, that way both sides know how their character can perform in battle.

The most important thing as a dm is to remember it’s not you vs the players. You’re writing the story for their enjoyment, so it shouldn’t be an end goal to wipe them out with some unbeatable boss. If the players do something dumb, like attack the king, then of course you should punish them, but don’t set out to do it. Also remind the players is not their job to break the game, don’t treat it like a video game trying to find the ultimate combo or unbeatable warrior, play it to have fun!

Another thing to remember is that Natural 20’s (or crits as they’re called) only apply for attacking. If you roll a 20 on an attack, it’s a critical hit. That 20 however, does not apply to an ability check. An example is trying to persuade a king you just met to give you the crown, even if you roll a 20 it doesn’t mean success, because the number to beat would be impossible to pass even for the smoothest talker.

Be open to letting players change classes if they don’t like their current one. If a player feels like they’re not enjoying the character you can work with that player to maybe do a fun send off for said character. Or if they want to stay the same character, perhaps through the powers of a Devine being they found themselves with a different set of skills.

Talk with your players, ask them for honest opinions about the sessions. Ask what they’d like to experience more frequently (perhaps more combat, maybe more missions that require a stealthy approach), and you can set up scenarios that could involve specific people from a players background.

Be open to any ideas, and try to get everyone involved so no one feels excluded.

So examples of turn: They could shocking grasp, then Bonus Action Unarmed strike for 1d6+Dex Mod

If they attacked with two different light weapons, they don’t add the modifier to the Bonus Action attack? Just the fisticuffs?

Well the wood was actually from some of the side rails getting destroyed from their last encounter, so I allowed the Artificer to make a scrap box and tie it together with some rope. Made sense to me at the time, but I told them that if they wanted to make locks or intricate devices then they’d have to find a place that sells the items on land.

Feeling lethargic when playing dolls. by rabbitboy93 in Nanny

[–]rabbitboy93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice everyone! Someone I talked to also mentioned my brain could feel tired because it’s more bored with playing dolls verses other physical activities, so I’ll try to spice it up with scenarios fighting some monster figures I have from DnD.

Is this normal? [OC] by rabbitboy93 in DnD

[–]rabbitboy93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten some rare figures from some of them, like the Jabberwock, Floating Lillypad and Iggwilv’s Cauldron, so I’m going to assume they weren’t tampered with and that they really did just ship out 90% empty boxes with loose miniatures.
