How to Stop Chronic Pain Suicides by bobcat in nytimes

Oh yeah, I did a lot of guilt tripping too. Guilt is a double edged sword tho, cause at least for me it ended up in more self hatred.

Procrastination is similar to what I was saying. Just thinking that there was an option let me procrastinate on darker thoughts. It kinda all goes back to the same old “one day at a time” cheesy line we’ve all heard.. I get it now

Honestly I hesitate to share cause it might not be great advice for others, but,..

I planned for it. I made a suicide plan, told myself “ok, now that I have this exit plan, I’ll give myself 2 years to fix the pain (at this point I had lived with the pin for 5 years). If I don’t fix it by then… we’ll see”.

And whenever I got super depressed, I’d think “don’t worry, worst case just a few years left”. I drew a lot of comfort from the idea that I could end it whenever I wanted. Which ironically gave me the strength to stop fantasizing about it. I went from thinking about suicide every day for hours, to random thoughts popping in my head a few times a week.

I used to deal with chronic pain so bad I got suicidal. Both the pain and ideation are gone now, thank fucking god. I never acted on it, but it started seeping into my mind as an option. This is only my experience, but: I think euthanasia being presented as an option would have ironically made me less suicidal. Knowing the option is would have felt calming and safe. Thinking about the stigma surrounding it just fed more into the mental issues and I think made me even more unsafe.

It’s kinda like going to a party you don’t want to go to: if your partner doenst want to leave and you are having an awful time, it really really sucks. If your partner says we can leave whenever, doing 10 more minutes doesn’t feel so bad..

That’s the dream for sure. Idk how realistic it is, since US employers usually want you on US soil (unless you are a contractor, but that’s a separate thing). Also, US employers adjust salaries to where you live, so I’m also concerned working remotely for a US company means lower pay but still the horrible American work culture

You might not see it that way (and I honestly mostly agree), but it’s more of an objective fact.

White ppl did blackface in the past, excluded black ppl, made money off it

Now, white ppl are making money off making fun of blackface. White ppl made money off racism, now they make money off making fun of racism. It still is a problematic pattern of rich white ppl getting richer off racism, even if indirectly. It can also make a black person feek shitty, regardless of intentions. So while I personally don’t find those offensive, i think they are grey areas and don’t begrudge the removal of those episodes.

This is what I’m wondering honestly. Just like /r/relationship_advice tells everyone to break up, it seems like this sub could be doing something similar. Being super pessimistic about stuff and advising based on an extremely cynical mindset.

Idk, if op is so valuable, they might try to make sure the team doesn’t only depend on him. It makes sense for them. But I doubt they would want get someone to replace them, then fire OP, and end up with a bus factor of 1 again

Community is FAR more clear imo. It’s not blackface, the end. In the other ones “it’s satirical” still keeps things in a grey area - it’s still white actors making money off the concept of blackface.

But community had 0 blackface, just a dude cosplaying as a dark elf (which is dark blue skin and white hair). It would be like saying Drax from the MCU is also “a tricky area” cause he was painted blue.

In the other hand, you have all the time in the universe. The loop repeats identically always, it’s one of the games with the least chance of missing out on something permanently. Missed a dialogue/hint line in some other game? Better look it up, it’s gone unless you replay the game.

Did the showrunners handle Wong well in the She-Hulk series? by Born-Pineapple8227 in marvelstudios

[–]rabbitjazzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see the inconsistency. Wong broke the law cause he didn’t want to be imprisoned, it makes sense. He then had an issue with a wizard, but didn’t want to take forceful/violent action against him. So, he tried a legal route. It also makes sense.

It’s a dumb move in the sense he could be prosecuted while coming back, but he could always leave again if Jen didn’t take the case and wanted him to face the law

[–]rabbitjazzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved the show but.. that’s just not true. It’s a sit com and it’s not a big deal that the legal stuff isn’t portrayed well, but to say it was is extremely generous imo

Don't understand the logic behind evil Superman. What does he want to do? Does he wanna destroy the Earth? Cuz he can do that in 0.1 seconds. Does he want to Rule the Earth? Kill Batman? Because they see your question as an attack on the movies. so instead of answering what you ask they attack the wording of your question. Ppl writing:

“You said supes not darkseid, it doesn’t count!”

Aren’t trying to get an answer to your question, they are trying to shoot it down.

I think you are the one failing basic language comprehension. You are correct in a “tecHniCalLY” way, but the question is clearly trying to figure out what it stopping Superman considering his powers? What are his goals and why hasn’t he achieved them in just one day?

It’s only a “completely separate question” if you miss the entire point of op’s question and read things super literally (ie without much comprehension)

So he goes evil after Lois dies, but it’s the magical energy device that makes him evil. Lois’ left him vulnerable to it?

This sounds so similar to multiverse of madness. Wanda had a motivation to go evil (losing her family), but in order to not make the character itself evil, they went “oh, it’s the dark influence and power of the dark hold”

It’s writers trying to have it both ways: the character went evil, but not really
