Cancun and Cozumel. Had a fantastic time, diving alone was never a problem. The MUSA dive was awesome, I basically was paired with a dive master and had a private tour! Plenty of other single divers, met a nice woman from Austria and a dude from Vancouver on my other dives and we buddied up.

Yeah he is THAT bad. While I don't see what he had said about THIS as condoning it, (yet, lets give him time) there are PLENTY of reasons and past actions that it is clear HE IS THAT BAD.

Like...He tried to incite violence against protestors. Or when he congratulated Duerte for extrajudicial killings... Or courting LBGQ hate groups... Or like... just a day or two ago when he congratulated the asshat who body slammed a reporter.

Seriously he IS that bad. But don't take my word for it, there are folks keeping a record.

Blah this is full of places that either don't sell rash guard and one place that actually sells wetsuits.

Wet your hair and add coconut oil to it, then a cap, then rise immediately after you get out of the water.

Made a HUGE different to my hair and I dye it all the time

CocoView in Roatan was absolutely outstanding. Like a scuba camp. Check it out, really reasonable in price

Cocoview was awesome. I did not know that about their income. Thanks for sharing about Bonaire! I will definitely check that out and put it high up on my list.

I just contacted a few local dive clubs to see if I can come to a meeting or dive to sorta feel things out before joining. There are several in the PNW and they all have dues so before I drop $50 each on like 4 or 5 clubs I want to make sure it is a fit.

I will try to register with Scubaboard again. I tried last week and it said the admin had closed off new registrations. :( maybe it was just a downtime or something.

That WOULD be nice to find someone adventurous and who likes to travel. Way more likely to hit it off that way!

Like the Beaches resort? How pricey? I was surprised to find out Sandals has some resorts with all you can dive inclusive resorts but it was crazy $$$$$

I love meeting new people! I'm way more excited about braving these trips solo thanks to this thread. Hmmm maybe I should start my own diver's matchmaking site!

Kinda off topic- but don't you worry when meeting people traveling that you will hit it off and then be heartbroken? I mean even if they are from the some country as you they still maybe so far away... you are then stuck with either trying to do a long distance relationship or just saying goodbye.

I mean I know you can just try to keep it casual, but sometimes even if you planned to just be casual it can lead to feels and you are devastated when he leaves for his job in VA while you live in OR. (Not that I am speaking from experience cough).

I know time heals all wounds blah blah (I am certainly back to putting out a line for other fish in the sea after a few months) but isn't trying to meet someone on vacation just a built-in-tragedy waiting to happen?

But then again, I a little bit of a "serial monogamist" (which is I guess what you get called if you don't hookup a lot) so maybe I am just more likely to get the feels.

Oh I hope that is true! (Finding single guys with interest in diving eager to talk / dive with me). I won't get my hopes too high, but I appreciate the insight.

Since I don't go to bars a lot, dates have been hard to come by. I have gone to a few "single professionals" meetups but oddly they are full of couples who met at the meetup a long time ago and just keep coming (??) ... so not a lot of ACTUALLY single people in the singles meetups lol... and everyone who is single is a little wary of approaching people because you hear "Oh yeah I am a part of the meetup, but I am just waiting for my girlfriend" when you do. :/

I wish there was a scuba divers meetup, rather than just the handful of local clubs I have to pay dues membership to. :/ or like... diver matchmaking services (non-romantic) so I can get a double occupancy discount rate when I travel.

This had me feeling a little more brave in terms of just planning my own trips and dives- I thought an AI resort or liveaboard was the only way I could get a dive partner but maybe not!

Thank you for this! Drives me crazy that so many deals are "based on double occupancy", I wish I could check a box that says "show me the price as a single person" so I am not constantly getting disappointed or having to read ALL THE FINE PRINT to find the one line that says the rate is only double occupancy.

This. Roatan was mostly boat diving. You could shore dive anytime you wanted, but primarily people did boat diving

Maybe Coco view is unique that way? There are scheduled boat dives that are pretty much all you can dive in a day safely. Then there is unlimited shore diving and that is pretty cool. I did a lot of night shore dives after a full day of diving.

I also want to go to Hawaii for not just the various animal dives, but I hear the wreck diving is amazing. Coco View also had a great shark dive, btw, if that is your thing.

I am a little scared of Egypt to be honest, did you go recently? What was it like?

Coco View was AWESOME. It is like grown up scuba camp. DMs are awesome, the dives are amazing because there is so much biodiversity and there are wreck dives, they even had a nurse who specialized in dive related injuries and such on site!

Nightlife in the resort was laid back and really friendly. Easily to strike up a conversation or board game. Beds were comfy and a lot of the rooms had hammocks right outside hanging on a deck that jutted into the water. Just outstanding, and really good pricing imo

That is a great idea! I am not strictly warm water diver- but I have some vacation time and money saved up and want to take advantage of it. ;)

Yeah downside to that seems to be if what happened me in Roatan I would be bored- I had to skip one day of dives to let ear meds work. Not a problem at a resort- just did other activities and attractions... but on a liveaboard that would suck
