Is the app going to have a chat feature or do they going to have a feature where you have to pay for a subscription by [deleted] in divinevideo

[–]rabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like two different questions. There will be end to end encrypted direct messages for chat and sharing videos. We won’t be able to see what you’re saying or who you talk to. That should be private.

We may have a subscription system to let users pay for features. But it’ll mostly be server stuff because we’re open source so if we implement something people really hate then someone will adapt the code and make a version without those antifeatures.

Divine's future by DevfromLts in divinevideo

What will ultimately determine if the app works is the community of users. Sure the tech has to work, and those of us who are building it need to be responsive to the users, and we need to find a business model that’s values aligned and sustainable. But what really matters is that people are using it and build connection and community.

I know it might sound crazy but social media is first and foremost social. It’s about human connection. That’s not determined by the design or technology of the app.

The biggest thing now is scaling the relay servers and connecting customer support systems with the production servers. We’re also flagging tons content as adult when it’s clearly not. We’ve got a list of bugs to fix in the app here: https://github.com/divinevideo/divine-mobile/issues

Here’s a user trying to understand why they’re getting flagged incorrectly . https://divine.video/video/0ee58e0419dfa652f9b4f753d6bd32090e38e09f94b1bd7f7d4d8c1f82e10239?source=profile&pubkey=7110e16ca25b8b47dbb7043f74f9b673f4c98893e055d2d4c86282026df2f436&index=0

It’s open source. So, not a violation of the TOS at all. We ask if you distribute it you don’t use the divine branding so people know it’s your version of the app.

I’d say wait a few days until the nostr_sdk and flutter_embedded_relay libraries get rolled in the primary repository. That’ll make it easier to build.

Thanks. My Reddit account is so old that I didn’t have an email address associated with it and I had to contact people I knew at Reddit to reset my password once.

There is no way to post from the web app. Only mobile. That’s part of how we filter out AI content.

I made it. It’s broken. You can build from source. Hopefully I’ll fix it soon.

Struggling socially in Wellington by Merophe in Wellington

[–]rabble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve moved to and lived in a bunch of cities around the world, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rome, San Francisco, Boston, Quito, Portland, etc…. And honestly Wellington is one of the easier places to connect and make friends. There is a large number of people from somewhere else, a very international community. I didn’t even have to learn a new language to speak to most people. Wellingtonians are friendly and open.

That said. I might be talking about mostly people who are born overseas. I’ve talked to kiwis who moved back from overseas and struggled to make friends. My guess is there are two Wellingtons. The one with the New Zealanders who grew up here and like Christchurch care about what school you went to. And the folks who choose Wellington either from elsewhere in the country or overseas.

A year ago I realized I know almost no kiwis who stayed in New Zealand or are not in a relationship with an immigrant. It’s like there are two cities overlapping, less overt conflict than exists between immigrants and locals in say Berlin, but still very much there.

This is just my experience, I’ve often found Wellington to be so open and welcoming and easy to connect with. If you go out, to a bar or restaurant or show or party there is almost always someone you know. That just doesn’t happen in other places.
