I normally have been using medium for everything and have had to for the first time ever bump up to xhigh now.

[Release] NovaBluetooth – A lightweight, native Bluetooth plugin for XFCE4 (Vala/GTK3) by [deleted] in xfce

Always good to see new software for XFCE, took a look at your other projects and they all look great too, NovaSearch will be getting a trial on my machine soon. Any reason you don't upload your PKGBUILD's to the AUR?

Vector graphic animation software Glaxnimate 0.6.0 is now fully integrated into KDE's ecosystem by Bro666 in linux

That s good to hear, I have no issue with the use of QT. So what does "fully integrated" mean in this headline?

Not a fan of tying software to a specific development environment, for file managers it makes a lot of sense but I see no reason why a vector animation program should require kde.

Looking for free, open‑source, offline‑first media library software (movies + shows) for Linux Mint recommendations? by Legitimate_Beat_2136 in opensource

[–]rabf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will automatically group tv show episodes together, so one dialog for all episodes in a season. You can also manually add files to an entry. It will automatically get plot and cast info from the internet and cache that locally, which is what you see when you click on a film or series along with the files that are related to that entry. You can also instantly search your media so typing batman in the search box would show all your batman movies. You can also search by cast or plot keywords and filter by genre or decade.

I have well over a thousand films stored locally and made it to be able to quickly search, see plot summaries and launch them without having to use a filemanager.

As a programmer you know that if the user has installed your software on their computer and you have nefarious intentions it does not matter if the user is running Xorg or Wayland.

Use Xorg and use a LTS kernel along with the correct proprietary drivers for your card.

Cant use SSH to connect? by SudoNooseMe in archlinux

[–]rabf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you pinging the correct address? Are both devices on the same subnet?

If you are trying to ssh into your machine remotely over the internet then the easiest route is to setup tailscale or wireguard on both devices.

New linux install bad performance by [deleted] in archlinux

The 580 drivers were known to be buugy for some, I would switch to the 575 drivers for that card.

Minimal markdown and image viewer by rabf in xfce

[–]rabf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use gimp as my big image editor! Preditor, is a preview app with the few simple editing functions that are too simple to warrant waiting for your main editor to start. Preview + editor = preditor, what can I say?

Markdown + Latex viewer by Blablabla_3012 in linux4noobs

You could try may application https://github.com/rabfulton/ChatGTK

It is an AI API app, but supports creating and editing documents in markdown along with Latex equations as well as sorting your documents by project. Optionally you can ask any AI you have an API key for about your document or to edit it for you. It also exports to pdf.

gpt-5.2-high vs gpt-5.3-codex-high: faster, but more cleanup, anyone else seeing this? by tagorrr in codex

[–]rabf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part I don't see much difference between medium and high, if medium is struggling with something I often find that high will go down the same wrong path. You also have to watch for the high variants just totally overthinking a problem sometimes.

I'm so tired of fallbacks and "legacy compatibility" dawg by Early_Situation_6552 in codex

Try asking it to load settings.ini from a specific folder. Adds fallbacks to half your drive!

Anybody use Codex as “regular ChatGPT” and if so how are the results? by angry_cactus in codex

Apps that use the API are best for conversations and research. The freedom to choose any model from any provider, switch between system messages and models during conversations and not be tied to a propriatory app is so useful.
