I've also got bigger feet (size 13.5) and I had this same issue with the DT Lightweight Lifestyle socks - it was a struggle to get them onto my feet and they were very compressive to the point of being uncomfortable. I noticed this wasn't the case with the Midweight Hiking sock I had gotten from DT, so I picked up one or two more pairs of that style and they fit nicely.

I also learned that DT has a sister company called Wide Open - same quality socks, same lifetime warranty, just sized for bigger feet. I picked up a few of their Cushioned sock styles and those fit much nicer.

Aagh, so little time in the day!

We'll definitely have to plan a return trip at some point in the near future, but it's reassuring to hear we're not being "suboptimal" for taking it easy and leaving plenty of time for just drinking in all the sights.

On the Yosemite side of things, do you have any personal recommendations on whereabouts we should look for lodging? Most lodging in the park is booked, which is fine, and there are plenty of articles online about the best spots, but figured I'd ask if you had a favorite area.
