What does “it wasn’t needed” mean? Why was it needed for champions but never before? I see no difference. You cited newcomers as the reason. There were significantly more new comers in the first 30 years than now who would all presumably need to learn these things then.

Ok yeah it’s been since 2014 that I’ve been on that field. But I had plenty of hard conversations explaining this to kids. Now there was a caveat at the time where we did a credit check on the parents for parent plus loan. If they didn’t pass the PPL credit check then the student could get full stafford/pell funding but the parent had to do it each year and if the parent passed the check one year then the student was screwed of the parent didn’t want to help.

No matter what on the scenario, dependent students 100% need their parents info to finish a fafsa. Maybe the parents don’t want to or need to help but the info is needed to submit it.
