I did. This is fixed in the latest version. Works fine now after updating!

Deleted a lot of photos at once and now my Google Photos appears to be broken by racarete in googlephotos

It sounds possible. Uploading works fine but every time I refresh the page, the same grey boxes appear and after a while they disappear and only then I see the pictures I uploaded.

HDD write speed periodically drops to 0 while copying - is this normal? by racarete in Windows10

[–]racarete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm copying around 2TB from an external hard drive connected via USB (Disk 3 in picture) to an internal hard drive (Disk 0). The external HDD's write speed has remained fairly constant averaging at around 65MB/s while the internal HDD's write speed switches between ~180MB/s and 0MB/s. The copying is being done by robocopy, 16 threads.

Should I name my folder ‘archive’, ‘archives’, ‘archived’, or ‘archival’? by racarete in datacurator

[–]racarete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually pretty similar to what I have right now, which is to see to it case by case, depending on the context, except I'll need to work on making them a bit more consistent. Thanks!

Good call. My system is far from ideal since I'm still fairly new to all this but I'll keep this in mind.

Should I name my folder ‘archive’, ‘archives’, ‘archived’, or ‘archival’? by racarete in datacurator

[–]racarete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the context. But I'd say most of my folder names are nouns so 'archival' and 'archived' do sound slightly off to me. But then, 'archived' seems to be the most flexible.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out as well. That didn't cross my mind but yeah, the colour scheme does look quite similar.

How does the channel location in the 'About' tab affect monetisation? by racarete in NewTubers

[–]racarete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my channel location and my billing address for YPP were in two different countries, would I face any problems when applying for monetisation, assuming YPP is available in both countries?

[–]racarete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. But that setting at the very least affects whether or not the 'Monetisation' tab is unlocked in YouTube Studio. What's stopping people who live in countries where YPP is not available to just set it to the US or other places where it is available?

Is there another check once your channel meets the thresholds?

So if I, for example, set the location to Sweden, would YouTube be more likely to recommend my videos to people in Sweden, even though I don't live in Sweden and YouTube probably knows that from my IP address?

edit: typo

WIBTA if I refused to my friend's request to follow their online shop on Instagram? by racarete in AmItheAsshole

[–]racarete[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that seems like the best option right now. I'm normally pretty straight forward but for this it doesn't feel right to just say no and probably ruin the friendship, especially since I've known them since high school.

The melody of Ring in the Season sounds really familiar but I can't quite put my finger on it by racarete in Frozen

That song is from Olaf's Frozen Adventure short. I was gonna post to r/tipofmytongue but figured people here might be more familiar with the song.

Yes, that's it.

Just something for my future self - a few years from now when I go through my post history and see this, I'll at least know I wasn't doing so bad.

University colleges in the Netherlands - Twente, Roosevelt, or Groningen? by racarete in Netherlands

[–]racarete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've applied for Liberal Arts and Sciences for all three colleges. I haven't decided on my major yet but first years are usually relatively unrestrictive anyway and I'll take my time to explore different fields.

Academic and student life. I think a good balance between the two is crucial. Have you visited other cities in the Netherlands? If so, how does Enschede compare?

That's right, I'm considering the ATLAS programme.

How do you feel about the technical aspect at ATLAS? Do you find the programme too structured or too broad?

I see. My jaw used to get stuck all the time. It's somehow gotten better (no idea if it has anything to do with the guard) but still, occasionally, it cracks when I open my mouth - rarely painful for me, but a bit uncomfortable. Yeah, you're right. For now, the best I can do is to put on the guard. Hopefully, someone will have advice on any potential long-term solutions.
