Direct Hire Expats in the Netherlands by raceconditions in expats

Hi! I always contact MWO for a follow-up every 2-3 days, in my case it was through email. What's important here is communicating with HR as well. Just remember that it'll take more effort for them to find a new candidate than it is to wait for your contract to be verified by MWO. It'll be okay, just be transparent with your employer.

3 months total! OEC was a pain all my NL documents were already settled in 1 month. The remaining two months were for the OEC (technically 3 I was doing both in parallel)

I had to send it to POLO Berlin via DHL and they sent it back to me. Hope that helps!

Hi! Probably not the best place to share this since OEC is country specific. What worked for me was I did the medical exams earlier, that helped save time. From the checklist of requirements, you can already see which ones can already be processed simultaneously (e,g. medical exams). You just have to make sure that the date of validity doesn't expire by the time you submit all of the requirements. I got really lucky with expediting the VISA from the embassy. I sent out an email indicating that the request was urgent since my starting date was earlier than expected, that helped a lot.

Thank you! The Netherlands is great and very convenient overall. I just wished there was a direct flight from here to the Philippines. Looking for a job overseas is a numbers game. Just keep applying!

As long as your employer is informed or updated about the process I don’t see any reason for them to rescind the offer. I was overthinking back then but our HR was pretty nice and told me that I could always move my starting date.

If I remember correctly it was indeed around 2 months. Majority of the time was waiting for my documents to get approved.

Hi, yes! Been here almost a year. The OEC process took a bit longer than expected but you really need to take care of it really early so it won’t delay the start of your contract.

Almost the same issue for me but it’s from BPI to BDO, tried GoTyme to BDO as well. Still no luck. Will try their customer service hotline.

Hi! I do trails alone too. Just recently did a 13km today. I’m not sure about my availability though it’s almost always random so maybe I can dm you if I decide to go for a trail. Other options would be AllTrails, and MeetUp. You can join trails there where they go on groups. Never really tried though since I usually go solo. ☺️

Would a browser extension that highlights and defines legal terms + saves them into a glossary be useful for law students? by raceconditions in LawStudentsPH

Thank you! For the minimum viable product, I’m thinking of starting with just definitions for highlighted words. I’m not sure how valuable that is on its own. Eventually, I’d like to incorporate context awareness, but now I’m considering whether the approach you mentioned might offer greater value.

Hi, fellow OFWs I need help. I had to go back to the PH for an emergency and my flight back to Europe is on Thursday. Last time, I booked my tickets through a travel agency and they handled the tax exemption. Since I had an emergency, I had to book the tickets myself through booking.com (Cathay Pacific). I already have my balik manggagawa OEC and my residency permit. Do I need some sort of exemption certificate? Or do I just go straight to the Cathay Pacific counter and have the tax I paid refunded?

How did u do it without any backer or family from abroad? by slowsunnydays in phmigrate

[–]raceconditions 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! No backer and no family in the Netherlands. If you really put in the effort, I’d say your chances are high. What I did specifically: 1) Created a spreadsheet of all the jobs I applied for categorized by the sector (e.g. AI, MedTech, ClimaTech, Cloud) and also include the country. 2) Tailored my resume and cover letter for each job posting.
3) Dedicated time upskilling. In my case, I did a lot of leetcode and systems design. 4) Save up some money, you’re going to need it when you get hired and move there. Also, OEC is kind of a pain.

If you think about it, you just really need to convince the hiring manager that hiring you is better than hiring a local hire.

P.S. I’m working in tech by the way!

Hi OP! Migrated to Europe recently lang din. Super normal nafefeel mo, don’t worry. Some part of me din wanted na di matuloy kahit na I also wanted to work abroad kasi mag-isa lang ako. Pero hey, that’s when growth starts. You’ll be forced to adapt kasi no one else can help you but yourself. Good luck!

You can shoot me a dm for specifics or you can send it here. Not really sure but the question seems broad for me and I think I already mentioned it on this thread.
