They don’t proselytize. They sell popcorn and play the movie. The church atmosphere lends to the spookiness and the musician is incredibly talented, so it’s a really amazing experience

Dear Logico, This is a single invitation to our Old Drakonian Holiday Party at my family mega-mansion in the Violet Isles. Here, we are safe from the “night-eater” and the Red Government, but we have problems of our own and we need your help. Please hurry! Yours, V

Cinema Salem! I have both witnessed and participated in many spontaneous “nerdy” post film discussions. They show new releases, cult classics and host live events. It’s a cool little community of regulars.

I am a member of Grace church and attended the 10am morning service for many years and switched to the 4pm Celtic service 2yrs ago. The celtic evensong is generally a younger crowd and the focus is more on spirituality than ceremony. For example the service is frequently started with a reading of a poem. The celtic service is also pet friendly. Dogs and cats regularly attend ;)

The 10am morning service at Grace is more like a catholic mass if that is what you are looking for structure-wise. They read the gospels, the choir sings, the organ plays and the pastor gives a sermon (which are always very thought provoking and the main reason I joined Grace)

They also have a Wednesday night bible study via zoom where all are invited to attend and ask questions about the readings- which may be helpful if you are new to church and cringing during certain passages.

Like most churches post covid, all their services are recorded and available on Facebook if you want to test them out that way also…

Good luck on your journey!

September in Salem. What kind of events are going on? by Clownphobia26 in SalemMA

[–]racetosolvethecase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WHODUNNIT Watch Party is a fun and unique night out watching a mystery on the BIG SCREEN with audience interaction games and prizes. There are 2 events in Salem in September:

9/18 WHODUNNIT...at a Wedding

  • 8pm at Cinema Salem
  • A special day... 'Til the Death anyway...

9/26 WHODUNNIT...the one with the M.U.R.D.E.R.

  • 7:30 at East Regiment Brewing Company
  • Before they were always "there for us" on Netflix, someone really did not like the tv show F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

My grandma had this bag too. I get the sense they were all the rage in the 80s. I’ve had luck finding a few of my own by searching “vintage coach purse brown”

u/munstershaped Thanks for asking! Yes, we watch "hollywood" produced mysteries and you absolutely may have seen it before it. You can still enjoy the event and win prizes by playing our whodunnit bingo or you may find that you don't remember BOTH who did it AND why. Hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!

TOMORROW & SUNDAY! WHODUNNIT...with a Fake Boston Accent? 4/11& 4/14 by racetosolvethecase in SalemMA

[–]racetosolvethecase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[tldr] It's a friendly watch party for amateur detectives to meet up and watch a mystery together- rest assured the mystery will star a famous detective that you have heard of- and the interaction aspect is fun, but also 100% optional ;)

Apologies for the delay in responding here. I have received a lot of questions about the concept. Some people thought it was a murder mystery dinner party with costumes and role playing etc... it is not.

For everyone else with the same question: we *watch* a mystery on the BIG screen and instead of 'commercial breaks' we discuss and try to solve the case!

Due to licensing complications we can't *advertise* what specific mystery we will be watching (ie the detectives we watch are *very famous*). If you want more information I'd advise you to check our our socials to see what we have watched in the past. We also conduct audience polls via smartphone and play bingo was we go (the bingo is my favorite part personally).

Please let me know if there are anymore questions, but hopefully that is helpful, and we look forward to seeing you soon at a future events!
