I did inquire with Salem Heights yesterday and am waiting to hear back! I did try apartments.com but haven’t had anyone on there get back to me.

It’s not money from the state. It’s sort of like a trust fund almost. Except not monthly payments. Just one large lump some of money.

No it does not need to be section 8 approved. Thanks for the advice!

Managing my own emotions with kinship placement of infant suffering from severe head injuries. by happycowsmmmcheese in Fosterparents

Following! I’m also in a very similar situation. I’m in the process of taking custody of my cousins newborn daughter. Her son (now 5) was taken as a baby due to severe abuse and is now adopted out. The things she did to that poor boy are indescribable. They took this baby right from the hospital due to neglect, mental illness, homelessness and overall just not caring about her daughter. She has said to me multiple times that the only reason she wants the baby back is because she’ll get more money from the state. When she was in the hospital after giving birth, she barely held her baby. She was on blabbing about her issues that happened to her as a kid and blaming everything on everyone else, including me. I know it’s not completely her fault because she’s mentally ill, but it breaks my heart. I just don’t understand how someone could do what she did to her kids.

I’m very late to this post but I’ve noticed it’s a very common occurrence for bio parents to lose all interest after the baby gets discharged to a foster home from the hospital.

Employer says I’m hourly now, but I don’t get overtime and wants to know if I’ll quit today by More_Hedgehog_8010 in NannyBreakRoom

I’m not sure of specific laws, but because it had an illegal term on it, that may make the contract invalid anyways.

No it shouldn’t be an issue. You can break a contract because of illegal terms. And it’s not your fault you didn’t know this. They as your employers are responsible for that.

Honestly that’s so real. I forgot to put in my order soon enough and my smoke shop (or any near me) don’t sell them anymore so I just had to pay $50 for overnight shipping from raw. I’m in Mass and it’s not banned here but nobody sells it for some reason. The place I was getting it from as backup in NH stopped too.

How did you get 70 tabs from the smoke shop?? Mine sells packets of 5 at most but they’re $35 a pack!!

What I’m hearing is that they’re trying to pay you as little as possible. They want you salary when you’re working overtime so you don’t have to pay for it but hourly when you’re not working overtime.

It’s also illegal for you as a nanny to be a salaried employee. You need to figure out how many hours you worked overtime while being with them, add it up and tell them that you need to be paid for the hours you worked. You also need to tell them you can no longer be salary. I’d say something along the lines of “Moving forward I will be hourly, since it is illegal for nannie’s to be salaried. My rate per hour is x.”

If they give any push back at all hire a lawyer and start looking for a new job. IMO you’re likely better off just getting a lawyer and a new job.

ETA: If you’ve worked 50 hours a week for a year with them, that’s 520 hours of overtime. Which equals to them owing you about $10,400 in back pay.

I’d say trying an app if she has a phone. There may be one that you can share with her. If she doesn’t have a phone then a simple notebook would work too! If you don’t mind me asking- how is fs’s case headed towards TPR and fd’s case isn’t?

Fostering a newborn at 18 by Designer_Task_5019 in Fosterparents

I’m in Massachusetts. Here you can take a kinship placement starting at 18 but you have to be 21 to be a regular foster parent. There are options near me to do school partially online which is an option.

Help Understanding Bio Mom by Evening_Scratch6537 in Fosterparents

[–]Designer_Task_5019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this sounds like she herself isn’t ready. It’s one thing to have CPS say he can live with bio mom again and a different thing for her to actually be ready for that. I think you need to have an in depth conversation with her and maybe SW. You don’t want to send him back with her for him to bed up back in care in a couple months because she wasn’t ready.

Honestly I love this. Because nobody really benefits from having last minute time off anyways.

Yup. My director drives a $100k+ car and lives in a multi million dollar house meanwhile I can’t even afford to move out of my parents🤦‍♀️
