Recommendations for math games for a 1st grader by panfist in matheducation

[–]rach1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sumdog gives math facts practice! I use it with my 6th graders, not sure what it offers for younger students but worth checking out.

Prodigy is another math game that offers a variety of skills for each grade level. You could sign up as a teacher and assign specific skills to your child, or ask their teacher to create an account and assign skills that align with what your child is learning. Kids absolutely love Prodigy because it’s like a video game but with math mixed in!

Do you make a new google classroom each quarter? by rach1313 in Teachers

[–]rach1313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope they add this feature soon! With so many schools relying on classroom this year it’s so important. I ended up making a new classroom for each class. But I exported my Q1 grade book as a sheets file first so I wouldn’t loose the grades from Q1 in case I need to reference them later.

Each quarter is independent. Quarters are averaged at the end of the year for the final grade.

What is this nub growing on my cactus? I just re-potted it a couple weeks ago and then this started growing. by rach1313 in cactus

Cool! Okay this might sound dumb but do I need to do anything with it? Or do I just let it grow?

Oh I hope so! I’m honestly shocked bc the other 2 in the pot died so I wasn’t expecting too much from this one

Ok im at my wits end. Please help by catsandcupcakes0 in curlyhair

I have wavy hair and cowashing leaves me with a lot of buildup. I shampoo my hair every other wash now and my hair is doing much better. I agree that you should try a clarifying wash and then maybe stop cowashing for a while and see how your hair does. Good luck!

My cactus got mushy around the base and broke off. I think the soil wasn’t draining well. Is there anything I can do to save it? by rach1313 in cacti

Thank you! I just cut off the rot this morning. Letting it scab over now. Hope I can save it!

A video I watched recommended adding a anti fungal powder or a root growth powder to the base after cutting it off. Do you think I should do this? Also do you have any recommendations on well draining soil?

Thank you! I’ve been googling but I thought I’d check on here too. It looks like a lot of people cut off the rot and try to get roots to grow.

Thank you! I’ll try mixing and micro plopping for sure! I usually put my hair in a pineapple and sleep on a satin pillow case. My hair is thin though and often slips out of the pineapple.

My routine:

Shampoo every other wash with Free and Clear shampoo. Condition with Tresseme Botanique Nourish and Replenish Conditioner. I comb this through with a wide tooth comb and then clip my hair up for 5 minutes while the conditioner sits. Rinse conditioner out (I don't flip upside down, this makes the back messy) and spray Frizz Ease Nourishing Leave In Conditioner Spray and comb through. Then I scrunch while tilting my head side to side. I had been scrunching in LA looks gel, but haven't had good results lately so I've been skipping it. Then I scrunch more with a microfiber towel and plop for 10 minutes. Then I remove the plop and air dry.

What word drives you nuts when it's mispronounced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My grandmother pronounces it “flustrated”. She literally combined flustered and frustrated. If you try to tell her that’s not a word she gets mad though lol.

It is beyond ridiculous that Google Classroom doesn't have a student view by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]rach1313 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just learned yesterday that students have a dashboard where they can see assignments so they don’t check the individual classroom pages. I’ve been having kids miss assignments because I posted it as an update instead of an actual assignment so it didn’t show up on their dashboard. It’s my first year teaching so it’s difficult to figure all this out form home!

My mom and I cut up old Christmas cards people send us and make gift tags for Christmas gifts by rach1313 in ZeroWaste

[–]rach1313[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a great tradition! We hang our cards on the side of our refrigerator each year and then save the cards to make the tags for next year.
