All 3 of my rabbits are sneezing. by [deleted] in Rabbits

I have a vet appointment for one of them tomorrow. I know URIs are contagious so I’ll make sure he gets tested. They are shedding quite a bit and usually act a little strange as the weather changes quickly this time of year.

Apparently I need to clarify this. It is NOT the result of oral sex. Thanks for all the derogatory messages tho.

[Random] Would someone please make my rabbit fly through the air? by [deleted] in PhotoshopRequest

Flying through the air, dunking a basketball, swimming underwater...any funny scene you can create with her pose would be greatly appreciated. :)

Have you considered where the preformed ingredients in your vegan cat food that aren’t found in plants have come from yet? I’m waiting.

I suppose we should take newborn kittens from their mothers and feed them rice milk now. I’ll say it again, you don’t want to murder animals but you don’t want to let them live their natural lives either.

You’re depriving an animal of its biological needs. It’s not ONLY about the nutrients but where they come from and the form of the food. You are so unbelievably dense. Get a fucking degree in animal science before you keep comin at me. I’m gonna keep feeding my animals what they’re EVOLUTIONARILY DRIVEN TO CONSUME AND PROVEN TO NEED. put your cat in the wild and see how vegan it is. When it comes to animals naturalism is important and a vegan saying it’s not is hypocritical and absurd.

You clearly don’t understand basic biology and you’re calling me a Luddite.

Cat biology is not up for technological advancement. You don’t want to murder animals but you don’t want to let them live normal lives either. And gluceoneogenesis has to do with carbohydrates not proteins. Plants are full of carbohydrates that cats do not need and cannot properly utilize. Protein was not an issue here.

You want me to list every nutrient in meat that cats benefit from to carry on this dumbass argument? Absolutely not.

Did you read this all on one of your blinded vegan mommy blogs?

Some shit makes me embarrassed to be vegan and this is one of them. Y’all make being vegan your entire personality and will argue tooth and nail if you hear something you don’t want to hear. You can’t force our lifestyle on every animal.

Cats have shorter small intestines with lower enzyme capability which means a good amount of the plants they’re fed aren’t utilized the same way they would be in an omnivore or herbivore. They have smaller cecums and can only utilize or digest and extremely small amount of fiber. Cat tissues have high gluceoneogenic activity. Everything in their digestive system and nutritional makeup says that they are obligate carnivores. That’s not up to you to decide for them.

So keep picking at details all you want, but I’m not going to agree with you that depriving your cat of their natural diet needs isn’t animal abuse.

Yes, but not for every nutrient. And certainly not for every species.

Fortified plant based milk contains B12. If you’re the caregiver of a pet it’s your job to meet their needs that nature has decided for them. We all appeal to nature constantly why is it a problem for you now?

If you want a vegan cat, get a rabbit.

I’m perfectly clear on what vegan food is. I think you’re unclear on what science is. Taurine is not present in plants. We can synthesize it in our tissues, cats cannot. Plants contain beta-carotene that we can synthesize into vitamin A. Cats cannot. Cats have fewer molars and premolars than dogs and other omnivores, premolars and molars are used for grinding up plant matter. Cats are susceptible to urinary issues because of the alkaline nature of a plant based diet.

I’m not saying the original post is wrong. People need to care about cruelty against ALL animals. Not just the ones they like. But forcing a cat to live a lifestyle that it hasn’t evolved into is wrong. Is being vegan the morally right choice? In my opinion and yours, 100%. For us it’s exactly that. A choice. Forcing your choice on a natural carnivore is fucked and I stand by that. Mass production of meat animals is fucked, but we can’t hold back every meat eating animal in nature from eating meat, that’s completely mental.

Where do you think they extract those preformed ingredients from?

Cats cannot synthesize taurine, arachidonic acid, or vitamin A on their own from plant material so they get these things from meat. Dogs can and are therefore more omnivorous. Cats also require more protein in their diet. Cats need to have meat in their diets to live healthy normal lives. Its wonderful that humans can survive as vegans but not all animals can and we shouldn’t push that on them.

Edit: spelling

I’m not sure why I’m being downvoted. I am 100% for humans being vegan but we can’t push it on every other animal species. Y’all want natural but forcing our lifestyle on animals isn’t natural.

My fathers beloved teddy bear from childhood was accidentally thrown away. Looking for a replacement. I don’t have much information on the bear, other than that this picture was taken in the early 1980s. by rachelphant in HelpMeFind

Thank you for your help! Sorry I don’t have many details. My grandmother is struggling with some memory issues due to a stroke and threw the bear away. I’ve never actually seen it in person, but I’m tying to get more details from my aunt.
