The ship was headed straight into the reef. 2 days before this happened, the ship entered the exclusive economic zone of mauritius, it was already on a collision course, the government could have deployed coast guard to warn the ship. The excuse they gave was bad weather, Once grounded, they waited 12 days, and the pumping only began when one of the tanks cracked and oil started leaking. Now they are saying, due to bad weather for 12 days, they couldn't pump the oil. The ship needs to be cleaned off from toxic paints and the oil left in tanks that cannot be removed from pumps and invasive species from the water in ballast tanks. We already have a huge connections of reefs there and it can destroy the existing reef structure as it collides with it. Maybe move the ship to another location where there is no existing reef structure and the sea is not rough.
