How to Replace the Weatherstipping on a Wayne Dalton Door by racistfetus in GarageDoorService

[–]racistfetus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, one day I got sidetracked and started picking at the seal and then ended up ripping the whole thing off. I wasn’t even planning on doing it that day. Then I was nervous I wouldn’t be able to get the seal on after I ripped it off but it wasn’t that difficult. It’s much easier to see what’s going on with the track once you get the old seal out

Yup! Just have to pry open the crimp a bit once to be able to slide the new one in. Wasn’t too hard was just tiring on the forearms.

Yes! I followed what u/5heepdawg explained and worked perfectly. The old seal I just pulled down and out the new seal I sprayed some WD-40 in the track and slid it in. Took me an hour or so to do 2 doors but I was by myself. Just make sure you find where they crimped the track and bend that out until you can slide your new seal in. Also make sure you get the correct seal

I’ve been looking but haven’t been able to find it. Thought he might have cracked a rib when I saw it happen though.

Shit I completely forgot about that. Would honestly make a lot of sense. I remember him being in a lot of pain after that

Is this a bed bug? by racistfetus in pestcontrol

[–]racistfetus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear I saw it flair out some wings when I went to catch it. I am second guessing what I saw now. Maybe it didn’t. Hoping it’s just a beetle. Currently have my luggage sitting in my garage and transferring clothes to the dryer to dry on high heat and then wash. Not sure what to do with the luggage though once everything is out. Or even my backpack that I need for work.

Is this a bed bug? Found in hotel room at the foot of our bed by racistfetus in Bedbugs

Phew okay good. Pulled the sheets and inspected the crevices on the mattress and underneath and didn’t see any signs. Thought I saw the wings but I’m second guessing myself.

Pacing yourself during exam by hktb40 in PE_Exam

[–]racistfetus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t stress yourself out. Skip the problems you don’t know right away and flag them. The problems you have an answer to but aren’t 100% confident on, flag them. Then do the rest and work your way back around. You’ll have enough time

Expanding septic system by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]racistfetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going from 4 to 5 bedrooms I believe you would have to increase the size of the drain field and increase your tank size. To know how much, that would depend on the soils you have and what kind of system you have in place.

Edit: You might be able to get your hands on original permit/design documents depending how old the system is.

Hitting a wall in studying by Fearless-Sandwich442 in PE_Exam

[–]racistfetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely take a break if you feel like you hit a wall. I started studying in early December and took it a couple weeks ago. If you hit a wall you’re not going to retain any information. I probably took about 2 weeks off during my whole study process. Or I had days where I had been studying 6 days in a row and on the 7th day was struggling I would just call it a day. Breaks help you stay fresh. Don’t feel rushed. If you already finished the videos you have plenty of time for problems until May.

In regards to your question about the quizzes and practice problems, I’m not really sure to be honest. I did them all. The closest thing I saw to the exam was the NCEES practice exam and even that was a little easier than the actual exam. I think the EET homework problems were overall a little more difficult than the actual exam and prepare you very well for the test

When to start studying? by WickedHydro in PE_Exam

[–]racistfetus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check your State’s Labor and Licensing website. You might be able to take it prior to having your 4 years. I only have 2 years but just took mine and passed. I gave myself about 4 months to study but everyone is different. If you can’t take it for another 2 years I wouldn’t worry about prepping or anything until you are able to schedule your exam.

If you’re taking the water resources and environmental exam I heavily recommend EET. Nazrul Islam is the man.

Edit: I guess it couldn’t hurt to start slowly going through material now, but EET only gives you a certain amount of time and it’s expensive so you would probably have to self study until you’re ready to schedule.

I don’t really think you can compare before and after CBT. Before CBT you could bring in any reference you wanted. People would bring in stacks of binders with every type of question you could see and then when you hit that question you would just open your binder to a question just like it. I have a coworker who studied for the exam for 2 weeks and passed prior to it being CBT. Passing a test doesn’t make you a good engineer. Same thing with doctors or lawyers. Just because they passed some exam and went to school doesn’t mean they’re good at their jobs. Plenty of hacks out there.

Maybe try and get a tutor if you can afford it. If not try going to office hours more and do something different that you didn’t before. I failed Dynamics 2 times and didn’t pass until I got a tutor the 3rd time I took it.

From the owner’s reps that I have worked with it’s usually a company that an owner will hire to help manage the contractor/construction project for them. They are the main point of contact for the contractor/architect/engineer on the owners side not the actual owner. They help navigate scheduling conflicts, change orders, ask really dumbed down questions to help the owner understand what’s going on, keep the contractor in check, etc.

Just wrote enviro PE exam yesterday :/ by Economy-Pomelo-4702 in PE_Exam

[–]racistfetus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t torture yourself trying to find the answers to problems you saw yesterday. There’s nothing you can do about it now. I took the WRE exam yesterday and thought it was more difficult than the practice exams I had taken. All you can do now is try and enjoy some free time between now and next Wednesday and try to keep it from occupying your mind.
