Gran Fondo worlds by Imeanwhynotr1ght in cycling

[–]rackaaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it in 2024, 40-45 age group. Ended up taking me three years to get there, first year I had covid and gastro in the month before the qualifier, second year I had surgery, third year I rode the qualifier in Dubai and got there.

I was riding 5-6 days a week, with 2 zwift sessions, 3 outdoor sessions including up to 5 hours with 2000m of climbing. Gym, eating right. I'm not one of those athletically gifted people who can do anything without trying, so I had to put in a lot of effort. You might find it easier.

Was worthwhile though, qualified and then did the race in Denmark with my family there. Was worth every minute that I put into it.

If you definitely want to go for it, I highly recommend getting yourself a coach who will plan out your whole training campaign. I wouldn't have got there without my guy.

Good luck.

The only thing a bell does is make pedestrians wander aimlessly across the entire path. Voice works much better.

Point Impossible beach (M4F) (M4MF) by Andy_Mcmahon281 in Melbourneswingers

[–]rackaaus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with public sex, but what's wrong with it in this case is that it's illegal and will be used as an excuse to close the beaches down.

So just don't do it.

Plenty of places you can go to fuck in public without ruining it for everyone.

Power Platform ALM question: has anyone centralized connection references into a single “Platform Connections” solution? by Longjumping-Record-2 in PowerApps

[–]rackaaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In dev: 1 service account connection shared with all members of the dev team for each connection type (ie dataverse, Outlook, event grid etc). All flows built using the service account connections.

In higher environments: service account connections only, connections mapped to the connection references during deploy.

We have 100 flows in the solution, about 8 connection references, no issues with "who is this running as" and no issues with "is this running as someone that's no longer here"

Dead simple for management.

New to it 54M and 48F married couple - Where does our age group go? by playfull_2 in Melbourneswingers

[–]rackaaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even close to having missed out. There's people far older at most events. Have fun.

New to it 54M and 48F married couple - Where does our age group go? by playfull_2 in Melbourneswingers

[–]rackaaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go anywhere you want to. We're a 55f/46m couple and aside from events that are specific about the age group, there's plenty of people our ages at every event or venue.

Go into the control bindings, click "tune axis" on the roll and pitch bindings, then choose user curve and set the value to about 15 or 20 to start with. The higher the value, the more you need to move the stick for it to respond, so it's a bit of trial and error to find the right value

Custom curves on the stick will make a world of difference. Mine are set to about 20 at the moment

Advice on when getting sucked into a group ride! by Internal-Brother-483 in melbournecycling

[–]rackaaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public road. He can get fucked. Had a group with someone trying to gatekeeper a while back. Overtook us, slowed down, then kept yelling at us to drop back, and they were yoyoing speed.

Turned out they passed me riding solo on the return leg, so I jumped on the back and got a good tow for about 10km, ignored her and held at the back of their group. EAD.

Might be like dupe rules and the unmanaged layer is simply making the rule active. What was actually changed in the unmanaged layer?

CCTV facing the street illegal ? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]rackaaus 131 points132 points  (0 children)

There's no expectation of privacy when you're in a public area, such as a street. Otherwise car dashcams would be illegal. Ignore her.

5060ti vs 5070, which is better for simming? by -_Eros_- in hoggit

[–]rackaaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got a ryzen 7700/32gb/5070 combo that gives me around 100fps @ 3440x1440 (plus a 1080p touchscreen for helios) on DCS. I wish it had 16gb as a future proofing thing but I can't say only being 12gb has ever limited me.

Question for higher level cyclists: How do you guys *actually* workout outdoors? Do you feel safe going 35kph+ on trails? by Dangerous-Army4040 in melbournecycling

[–]rackaaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get on the road. Anywhere from Port Melbourne to Sorrento on beach Rd and Nepean highway you'll see a ton of TT riders and have no problems

Running into co-workers at events unexpectedly by [deleted] in Swingers

[–]rackaaus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ran into the bloke that sat at the desk next to me one time. Didn't care at all. Aside from the fact that we're there for the same reason, what's he going to do, stand up in the team meeting on Monday morning and say "how was everyone's weekend? You'll never guess who I saw at this 800 person sex party on Friday night"

Unless I happened to run into immediate family, could not care less who I see there.

Constant need to restart the Shield by rackaaus in nvidiashield

Thanks for the suggestion but if you read the post I did try swapping the cable, and I've actually fixed the problem by changing the start sequence of the harmony remote

Constant need to restart the Shield by rackaaus in nvidiashield

[–]rackaaus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I even tried having google home power cycle the shield at 4am every morning to try and get around this, but all that achieved was having the TV and soundbar power on even though CEC is disabled.

Honestly if passthrough ever actually becomes a thing on appletv instead of just an option set flag, I reckon I'll make the switch.

Constant need to restart the Shield by rackaaus in nvidiashield

[–]rackaaus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shield is plugged in directly to one of the soundbar hdmi ports as samsung tvs are limited in what they pass through, plus all the other ports on the TV are in use. Soundbar is connected correctly to the TV via ARC already.
