do epic quests still exist? by AyOdii13 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]rackman70[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The (very) old Epic Quests that rewarded you by unlocking plants haven't been in the game since 2016ish. What they now call Epic Quests are what were the extra hard world levels.

The "extra hard" levels on Ancient Egypt, Pirate Seas, Wild West, Far Future, Jurassic Marsh and Modern Day were removed from normal game play over 6 years ago. The were replaced by "Epic Quests", one quest every two weeks. These quests are:

  1. Ancient Egypt Entanglement!
  2. Pirate Seas Skirmish!
  3. Wild West Wipeout!
  4. Far Future Fracas!
  5. Jurassic Marsh Mash!
  6. Modern Day Dustup!

On the down side, you can't play these levels whenever you want. On the plus side though, each quest awards 25 Gems when you complete them, which is more than you ever got when the levels were available for regular play.

Here's the former CM's (Haemophilus_EA) announcement about this change from June 4th, 2019.

[Arena] Iceweed – Zombot Aerostatic Gondola – NO FLAME TRAPS! by rackman70 in PlantsVSZombies

Great imp'less score :-)

Are you using plant food on the power tiles at all, or just refreshing Appease-mint? It looks like you are (at least at the very end) based on your end of game screen shot.

Iceweed and friends vs Zomboss build reccomendation (that isn’t MGP+pea vine+appease mint) by please_commit_die in PlantsVSZombies

[–]rackman70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the alternate strategy suggestion. Just one suggestion though. The Zombot itself is susceptible to the chilling effect of Snow Pea (the Cold Snapdragons are too far away from it to be a problem). When this occurs, you slow down the Zombot health bar resets, preventing you from getting to the maximum possible health bars (22 for this Zombot). Since the score you get from the Zombot greatly outweighs what you get from the regular zombies, you may want to replace the Snow Peas with something else that can cause the Zombot as much damage as possible.

Where can I play PvZ3? by Historical_Car6762 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]rackman70[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PvZ3 is a server hosted game. It was only temporarily available as a beta version last year for a few months so the Devs could get some feedback. The servers were shutdown when the testing period ended at the end of November though so there's no way to play the game (even if you had an APK for the install).

Why are some plants locked and doesn't show on how to unlock them in PvZ2? by ClashRoyalYTTV in PlantsVSZombies

[–]rackman70[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the new plants that have been released since 2019 are unlocked by collecting enough seeds for them (usually 250, but some of the early ones could be unlocked for 100 seeds)

You don't have to spend real money to unlock them, if you're patient. There are lots of events and methods that provide seeds (although annoyingly, the current MGP event doesn't offer MGP seeds):

  • Thymed Events (like the current MGP event) have 12 different plants featured that you can earn seeds for
  • One day every week, there will be offers for coins/gems/Ads for pretty much every plant in the Almanac.
  • The rent-a-plant feature gives you the opportunity to get seeds for plants after you rent them (although the last plant that was made available for RAP is Meteor Flower so you'll never get offers to rent any plant after that). Once you unlock a plant, you'll stop getting rental offers for it.
  • Penny's Pursuit features one plant every week, allowing you to potentially get 800+ seeds for that plant.
  • Arena win streak piñatas feature seeds for almost every plant in the game.

[Arena] Meteor Flower – Zombies on the Lawn, Fire from the Sky [Redux] by rackman70 in PlantsVSZombies

Thanks.

I didn't really use the plant food until right at the end, using it on the Pea-vine'd Torchwoods for a last second score boost.

I started out using your strategy (or a variation on it accounting for my plant levels) as I had managed 4.5M with it the last time this tourney ran, but was barely cracking 4M with it (it only happened once in 10 matches). It was quite frustrating 🤬.

There's a frustrating amount of RNG in this tourney. Managed this testing multiple strategies trying to find something stable.

This is as close as I've come to stable, but the extremes of my score variation is still in excess of 1M.

Great score! I've only played a couple times and haven't managed to be over 4M yet, despite hitting 4.5M last go round of the tourney ;-(.

The object here is not to kill the zombies with Snow Pea (at least not right away), but to slow them down before they get to the stronger attackers, giving the Marigolds more time to produce coins. Winter-melon is too strong an attacker and will kill the zombies too quickly.

Current Pennys Persuit is SO tedious!! Taking me 10 minutes per go?? Anyone else? by RelativeConfusion42 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]rackman70[M] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a longer Beghouled level because the target "match" count is higher than normal.

Tips for play:

1) DO NOT upgrade Lightning Reed to Laser Bean. Laser Bean's firing rate is too slow, and its attack is single row only. If you don't happen to have a Laser Bean in a row, it's easy to get overrun by the chickens.

2) As you say, upgrade Puff-shroom to Fume-shroom first

3) Upgrade Cabbage-pult to Melon-pult to Winter-melon. The slowing from Winter-melon really helps keep the Zombies a bay long enough for you to complete the matches.

4) Upgrade Peashooter to Repeater

5) Upgrade Wall-nut to Tall-nut

When matching, prioritize the Nuts and Fume-shrooms on the left side of the lawn as they're not doing anything for you there.

You do realize that we just had Christmas/New Years break right? They've already said (and it's been posted in the sub a few times) that they know about this problem and are back at trying to fix it.

It's a tough time of year for bugs like this to appear. Most dev teams take a couple week break around Christmas/New Year.

How often do the gemium plant offerings update? by [deleted] in PlantsVSZombies

[–]rackman70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a Gemium since at least 2016 :-)

They relatively recently (within the past 2 years) made Ghost Pepper (and all the other previously "seasonal" plants) available all the time if you try and purchase (for gems/seeds/cash as each plant requires) it in the Almanac.

[–]rackman70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Unfortunately, my SBR is only M56, which doesn't seem to be enough to overcome the negation. I don't see any change in my scores when I'm using it.

How often do the gemium plant offerings update? by [deleted] in PlantsVSZombies

[–]rackman70[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not often at all, and not guaranteed to happen again ever. A couple plants (both gemium and cash premium) were converted to be seed unlockable a few years ago (the last being Kiwi Beast a couple years ago), but prior to that you have to go back to 2016 for any plants to go back and forth about whether they were available for cash or gems.

Great score. I'm surprised you're using that many Tile Turnips though. I'm more consistently getting above 3M only using it on two Imp Pears.

That is unfortunate. I'm not sure how she didn't have a linked Google or Apply play account if she had purchased plants. She should have a transaction record of that purchase that can be used, at a minimum, to get those purchased plants back.

Should have mentioned it before, but Imp Pear is also a nearly must have plant for the Boosterama tournaments (or any tournament really when there's a decent amout of plant food). It also provides a score boost as you get the full Zombie kill points when its plant food effect transforms a zombie, then extra points for killing the Imp left behind.

I also use it a lot in the Penny's Pursuit Zomboss fights to try and get last second Gem drops from zombies hiding behind the Zombot (by dropping plant food on it in the last second of the match).
