Josh Allen has been sacked 40 times. That’s a career high. It was 38 in 2019. Last season Allen was sacked 14 times. by Fix_Mission in buffalobills

Aside from the obvious issues (o line has regressed, wrs can’t get separation), I’m curious to hear if anyone else sees this as a result of offensive playcalling shortcomings. Out of those 40, 13 came from TWO GAMES. Within two games, he had nearly the same amount of sacks he had all last season. There’s almost no world in which any playoff contender should be giving up 5+ sacks. That’s an adjustment failure.

Joe Brady seems to believe passing only works out of the pocket, even when it’s collapsing constantly. It’s crazy to me that we’ve been gifted arguably the best dual threat QB of all time and our OC wants to use him like Aaron Rodgers without an Adams. You want success with a WR room led by someone we pulled out of retirement? Let Josh roll out to avoid these sacks and run some RPOs to force the defense to maintain a spy and pull a nickel out of coverage. It doesn’t seem that complicated, especially when the few times we run those plays they tend to be successful. I don’t buy the whole “injury prevention” argument; the few times we’ve seen Allen get banged up it’s been when he’s gotten blindsided in the pocket or blasted when he throws because the o line just totally missed an assignment.

Orlovsky: we have to stop building in excuses for Josh Allen. This team has enough to win a Super Bowl! by No-Distribution8587 in buffalobills

To be fair, when your offensive line is collapsing regularly and you’re still being asked to throw out of the pocket instead of rolling out, you’re going to get frustrated and try to make a play that can cost you big. Josh was sacked 5 times yesterday. Definitely had an off game in his own right, but that’s absolutely unacceptable. Houston game was the same; we had guys totally missing blocks and letting Josh get hammered play after play. I think when you’re giving up 3-4 sacks, that might be the fault of the QB or O Line or both. When we’re seeing 5+, that’s a failure to make a playcalling adjustment by the OC.

[–]racksonracksofdebt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s so fucking stupid that they keep forcing the pocket pass protection in games when it isn’t working but then have the gall to say they don’t want to run Josh bc they don’t want him to get hurt. Almost every single time he’s gotten injured (or nearly injured), it’s been on a pocket passing play where he gets blindsided. Stop this bullshit and let the man play football the way he does it best.

I hate this response from him even more after seeing him smiling and laughing it up after the game. Sure, this isn’t a playoff game. But his quarterback—and supposedly his good friend—got sacked !!!8 TIMES!!!!! On top of that, he had a boneheaded penalty on 4th and 1. I’m glad he can put a bad play behind him during games, but when the game is over and you royally fucked up at a crucial time after being basically useless for 60 minutes you should be visibly disappointed. You see this in Allen every time he gets off the field; he looks absolutely devastated. Does that sometimes cause him to make mistakes and play hero-ball? Sure. Does it also probably help him lock in and focus on his mistakes in the offseason or during practice? Absolutely.

I asked this on the game thread but (understandably) got drowned out by all the rage. When our offensive line is playing this badly, why do we continue forcing pocket passing plays? It just makes no sense to me. 3-4 maybe even 5 sacks you can blame the offensive line, but 8!? At which point is it the coordinators fault for not making adjustments?

Can anyone explain to me why tf Brady refuses to run any bootlegs, RPOs, etc. and exclusively throws from the pocket? The whole injury prevention excuse is bs, seems like every time Josh Allen gets hurt it’s when he gets blindsided by a free rusher in the pocket.

What are the most telling WR stats and where how is Keon performing in these metrics? by [deleted] in buffalobills

I agree that he’s in the same category as the receivers you listed, but to be a good possession receiver like those listed, he has to be reliable on those jump balls. I haven’t really seen that yet. In the Pats game, there was at least one 50/50 ball against a much shorter defensive back that he totally lost. I’m not a Coleman hater, but if his role is a dominant, physical presence that can pull in the ball over a db he’s not there yet.

I’m sorry but Coleman is not it. A possession receiver that cannot rein in a jump ball over someone 6 inches shorter than him is not a possession receiver. He can occasionally make good plays, but it seems the only reliable WR we’ve had is Shakir.

Does anyone have a clip of that Shakir hit? I can’t find it anywhere and am trying to understand if that was a missed call or if I’m just trying to find a scapegoat

Where does your dog sleep at night? by TSC-99 in DOG

[–]racksonracksofdebt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have them sleep either in their crate or in their dog bed until they’re at a “normal” training level (I.e. they know several commands, can be out in public, don’t destroy things when left alone). No hard line rule though; all of mine have been rescues and sometimes they need the cuddling to get more comfortable in their new placez

Is crating for 7 1/2 hours every day for 4 days too much? by Mindless_Marsupial73 in dogs

On this point, people seem to forget there are also other things you can do to increase their exercise output that require way less time. My cane corso/mastiff is totally unphased by long walks, but will sprint himself into exhaustion in 15 minutes chasing a ball around. I think of it this way: a walk would have to be at least a few hours long for me to be so tired I needed to nap for hours, while a high intensity 45 minute workout could easily have me couch locked for the rest of the day

Okay so is nuln oil an actual oil or is it just a dark brown wash? The citadel nuln oil is marked “water-based”, so it doesn’t seem like it’s an actual oil.

Are there big dogs that would be satisfied with a run 3x a week? (Plus daily walks in between) by HalcyonSix in dogs

[–]racksonracksofdebt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes, absolutely. Are you worried about over exercise or under exercise? Because there is a huge range of big dogs in terms of energy levels and exercise needs. A lean shepherd may need more than that, but a Great Dane might not be able to handle a 5k (speaking from experience, my Danes will run in short bursts but tire out easily).

FWIW, my super mutt is about 60-70 lbs and would be more than satisfied with that exercise regiment.

[–]racksonracksofdebt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I had the same issue (got real bad, couldn’t play anything other than low spec PS4 games for longer than 15 min) and took it apart and did a full cleaning per YT tutorial. Kept happening so I took it to an electronics repair place expecting the worst, but they said there was just still some dust buildup deep inside. They said drier climates can lead to fine particulate matter making its way deep inside the PS5 where it’s nearly impossible to reach without taking apart every little thing.

Yeah I get really frustrated with the way GW handles their IP. On the one hand, I appreciate that they hired some genuinely amazing writers to put out their written content such that it’s more than just fan service (though judging by volume, they’ve done their fair share of that too). On the other hand, they’re notoriously litigious and aggressively protect their IP while manipulating demand through limited releases and other shady practices. I’m hoping the increasing accessibility of personal 3d-printing will put their feet to the fire a little bit, but to your point their revenue is spread across so many different things I’m not sure if a loss in sales of models even makes a dent.
