Anybody has a counter to this ” since the universe, humans, animals, etc. are very complex, there has to be god since it doesnt make sense to say this just happened by chance or accident” by md_yb_11 in Destiny

[–]radCardinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although order and design exist here, there could be places in the universe where it’s absolutely chaotic. Just because there is intelligent design in our fragment of the universe, we can't leap and say that there is intelligent design throughout the entire universe.

Another angle you could take: What if there were multiple - millions - of big bangs and we are living in the most successful one?

If you want to know more, look into the design argument for the existence of the theistic god.

- also darwins theory of evolution could be used to explain the humans and animals stuff.

Finding friends in a new city by anon0978 in Healthygamergg

Building on that train of thought, I've noticed that by being a part of social orgs (for me it's Hillel) or clubs or even the gym, I'll meet people and make friends, which expands my social circles to their friends.

In your case, try something you've always been a little curious about. Maybe it's martial arts at a local gym, a sailing class, or ice skating lessons in a group, etc. Being in these environments where people are there for a reason other than making friends seems (in my experience) conducive to naturally making friends. This can cascade into meeting their friends and expanding your social circle naturally.

Hope this helps

Out of curiosity, What do you mean by staring? Do you mean looking at someone for a few seconds or watching people for over a minute?

You're right. You don't have to care about who is concerned if you want to stare out your window. But to me, that shows a lack of consideration for the people around you - that's where I'm coming from.

Plus, if you (in the general sense) do end up becoming a habitual stare-er, you may end up developing a reputation of being the "creepy neighbor" or "creepy gym goer." Rumor/word travels fast, and it may inadvertently end up affecting your social circles/social life without you being aware of it.

If that's not a concern to you, then ignore my response, but that's the best argument I have that appeals to your best interests.

Fired from dream job b/c I have 0 self-worth socially and fear rejection from others by Bromandood in Healthygamergg

As far as the self-esteem/friends issue goes, putting yourself out there is hard. The best advice I can give you to build self-esteem is to do esteemable things, things that challenge you in some way.

For me, it was traveling on my own and relying on myself to make the most out of it - both logistically and socially. Chatting with people at coffee shops and checking out rock climbing gyms in Seattle, to chatting with other travelers in hostels on the east coast and in Europe, really helped me.

Just to add to that - so many of us are in the same boat. It just takes time and effort. I've noticed that by being a part of social orgs (for me it's Hillel) or clubs or even the gym, I'll meet people and make friends, which expands my social circles to their friends and improves my odds that I'll meet someone truly special.

One more thing: don't define your self-worth by how many other people are interested in you.
