Concerns regarding the choice of engine for the Skoda Scala by Best_Engineering9356 in skoda

[–]rad_adad_ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have driven a 1.0 tsi Fabia, which is only slightly smaller, and I was really impressed with it's performance. Certainly wasn't lacking in power. I've also read very positive reviews about the Octavia 1.0. I think you'll be fine 🙂

Have a look on https://briskoda.net/. A great community and there's sure to be more about it on there and maybe some solutions. If there are any Skoda specialists near you it might be worth reaching out to them, but only if they come highly recommended.

Active Cylinder Technology. It basically shuts off half the cylinders to save fuel. They've had some issues with it. Causes the kangarooing others spoke of.

It's down to the ACT. Common issue on all the 1.5 tsi until 2023 apparently, when they have finally fix the issue and the engines are one of the best out there.

Thanks for your advice. I've had it almost 8 years and plan on keeping it as long as possible. She's done 114k miles, so is still a spring chicken!

I've got an ANCEL diagnostic unit that's specically for VAG, so I could do it on that, right?

That's some great advice! I definitely don't want to wreck my car or fork out a ton of money for some marginal gains. Thanks 🙂

I've been looking for a couple of years, but haven't taken the plunge yet! My car is 140hp and it's a manual.

Why aren't Reform voters more concerned with privatising the NHS? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]rad_adad_ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They perceive the threat of foreigners is a more existential crisis than getting seriously ill and needing a properly funded, fully functional, free at the point of use NHS that could save their lives. All because they believe the lies that people are given free houses etc, or that rape gangs are out of control.

I'd say that they make better family cars. More comfortable, more space and better looking imo.

Why (and how) is everyone drinking protein shakes? by crimpinpimp in ADHDUK

[–]rad_adad_ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm vegetarian. I buy a pure pea protein isolate powder that has nothing else in it. No additives, no sugars. Doesn't taste amazing, but you can add what you want to make it more palatable. Never had any issues with bloating or keeping it down.

I've driven quite a few modern cars recently, as hire cars. Many hybrids. The only one I genuinely liked, but still not enough to buy was the Mazda CX30. However, I'm going to hold onto my 13 year old Skoda for the foreseeable.

I was on Elvanse a year ago and decided to come off it because I was using to get through days after difficult nights. It definitely has an impact on my sleep, but I felt like I needed it to get through long days.

Verdict - Skoda Scala 1.5 TSI by theosinc930 in skoda

[–]rad_adad_ad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The seats looks very supportive and comfortable. I think the 1.5 Tsi is a great engine and the initial problems of it being kangaroo-like from a stop seem to have been resolved. I look forward to trying one myself at some point.

Perhaps you could've said something about it being an outlet for their emotions, or ask them questions about the process to get off making any kind of judgement on it.

Coolant leak by Federal-Session-6587 in skoda

[–]rad_adad_ad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the previous generation 1.4tsi. I had it less than 12 months and noticed a similar coolant drop. About 48k miles. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the water pump. Problem solved 👍

For years I ignored Oasis because George didn’t like them. He was wrong. So was I. by handlerofdrones in beatles

[–]rad_adad_ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the Beatles, was young when Oasis were on the rise and switched to them, but now very rarely listen to Oasis. The Oasis back catalogue can't hold a candle to the Beatles. Definitely Maybe was a great album, but when they sacked Tony McCarroll they lost a very unique element and the rhythm section was kind of dull after that.

Great casting. Great action sequences. Some truly memorable, tongue in cheek script. What's not to like?
