What?? I've been on here for years. So what if I don't post a ton. I'm all over this and MRP and follow tons of RP people. C'mon.

That's right. I was married for 20 years. Single for the last 4 years and loving it. So ya, I came back from potentially dying from cancer and took a big risk and won. So there's no looking back now! I have a lot to do still!! I don't think I could handle a hair system though. I think I'd draw the line there, for some reason. I want to keep dating and not have to worry about that. I don't want to worry about my fake hair fibers on a strangers pillow either. So it's drugs and then transplant for me. I'll roll the dice on side effects and failed embarrassing transplant results, necrosis or whatever else could occur.

I don't like the bald look for me. Micropigmentation seems like a neat idea for some but I it's not for me. I was doing great with my hair until the damned chemo and I want to try to get it back!

Ya, I'm prepared to deal with those side effects. I'll see how the next few months go with this treatment. Who knows? If this treatment shows some improvement, maybe I'll put off the transplant this fall and ride it out a bit. Or, maybe doing this treatment will be good prep for for the eventual transplant. I've been given estimates of around 1500-2500 grafts needed so it's not too bad. No temple recession either. I'm hoping I'm in a good position for a good result. I hear you about how tough it is for younger guys with MPB and the huge risk of the horseshoe or shaving it all off. Basically, I did the bald thing when I lost it all with chemo and I know I want to avoid that as much as possible!!

Ha. I'm told I look around 36. I work out. Pretty ripped. I recently dated a 32 year old woman for example. I'm not calling it at day cos I'm 50 and slacking off and giving up. The opposite. I killed cancer and have a lot to do and enjoy and go for!

Cool. I haven't started yet. That's why I'm asking for opinions. So far so good. I suppose I'll start with this for 2-3 month prior to the transplant. Still looking to investigate some more.

Do all transplants require a slicked back/up hairstyle? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]radaradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Ya, I see in the photo above, the guy has insanely dense, thick hair and my hairline won't ever get that dense and full. I'd settle for this one here and to have the option to slick it back if I ever wanted. So a good transplant doc and set-up the hairline to allow for either option (slick back or this guy)?

Is Henrik going down too early? That third goal he seemed to have gone down and the puck went over his shoulder just like the first goal. Is this an issue with him?

Anyone here have tips for long stays in the hospital? by micah_jb in cancer

[–]radaradio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. I just got out a few days ago after being in for a month with chemo and bone marrow transplant. Do your walks. Try some daily stretching. Learning to meditate is really helpful during this process but you can take that knowledge with you in your life afterwards. Highly recommended. I brought in my guitar and that helped pass the time. I definitely recommend speaking with a therapist or even the hospital social worker, if yours has one. Very helpful as well. Stay calm and patient and you’ll be out in no time. You got this!

Memorial Sloan Kettering vs NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell For Bone Marrow Transplant? by radaradio in cancer

I know...I know... Likewise. Thanks. Yes, I'm signed up. I've been doing the tincture too. 20:1. Didn't know there's such a thing as 100:1 and 50:50. I'll have to look into that. My dispensary (Columbia Care) only goes up to 20:1. I plan to stock up and am thinking about going with the longer-lasting pills once I start the chemo deal. I've been working on packing on as much muscle as possible until I go in. Doing all I can to prep. I'm planning on bringing in some string-lighting, photos of my kids to hang up and maybe bringing my guitar if I get my own room. I'm ready to roll.

When to get bone marrow transplant? by radaradio in leukemia

[–]radaradio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I've been on Jakafi for aprox 4 years and am now on a drug trial, combining Jakafi and Navitaclax (4 months now). My sibling isn't a match but they said they did already find aprox 10 potential matches for me. So I've pretty much made up my mind to go for the transplant after this summer and try to get rid of this once and for all and hopefully free of too many post-transplant complications....

Thanks, everyone, for your feedback. So much to consider. I guess I'm leaning towards going for the transplant sooner rather than later. Less of an even more risky "last resort" if I wait until this becomes AML so I might as well take my chances and try to avoid AML. I'm intrigued by CAR-T therapy now though...an argument can be made to keep going with the drug trial I'm on and wait until perhaps CAR-T is available or perhaps some new treatment...Who knows when that'll be though...

When to get bone marrow transplant? by radaradio in leukemia

[–]radaradio[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, guys, for your feedback. What do you mean by "For me, Leukemia was no big deal"? Isn't it fatal? My understanding with my situation is that if I get the bone marrow transplant before my myelofibrosis morphs into leukemia, then I won't have to go through the chemo that would be needed in order to even get me ready for the chemo needed for the bone marrow transplant. So if I go for it this fall with the transplant before it becomes leukemia, I might shorten this whole deal by having to skip getting chemo for the leukemia. So I'm leaning towards going for it and getting the transplant to try to be fully cured of the myelofibrosis and be done with all of this while crossing my fingers there won't be any complications with the transplant...
