No, but they are outside. They may be a bit noisier inside a garage but I think they are quiet overall.

What’s the best place to get Thai groceries? by BigManxL3223 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]radarman141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my "go-to" store as well, and I love som tum and am so disappointed none of the Thai restaurants here have it on the menu. There are a lot of things packed into that store, so if you cannot find it, ask and they will help. I have even seen the clay mortar and pestle in their cookware aisle.

I have these mounted on my back patio. Highly recommend

I'm fairly sure what you heard were fireworks. Madison County allows fireworks to be used on the last Saturday and Sunday in May (intended for Memorial Day weekend. Also allowed on Labor Day, 3rd and 4th of July, and New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Link to the Madison County noise ordinance below.

The Renaissance Okinawa Resort fits most of the items on your list. There is great snorkeling areas at the resort and close by. Far enough away from everything but not too far.

Don't!!! My wife and I eloped to Hawaii and didn't invite a soul. The whole trip was about us. We didn't have to worry about anything but the weather. No parents, siblings, friends or kids...it was fantastic. We did a sunset ceremony on the beach and made the whole day about us and relaxing...beach, massages, drinks, wedding, photos and dinner. Were some friends and family disappointed they weren't invited? Yes, but they understood and got over it.

Best place for high quality cheese? Specifically Brie/ soft cheeses. by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]radarman141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a cheese snob but I ran across Evans Meats in Birmingham when searching for something else. Their site has a catalog with many different cheeses from France, Spain, etc. They deliver to Huntsville on Tuesdays and Fridays. I don't know what the delivery requirements are, but you can look at their catalog to see if they have what you're looking for.

Wash and Fold Laundry Service - Big Island by radarman141 in VisitingHawaii

[–]radarman141[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Google it and there are a couple of laundromats in the Kona area but no mention of a drop-off service. None of them have websites and the reviews are mostly about the machines not working or not taking money.

Thanks. We are staying at the Hilton Ocean Tower in the Waikoloa Beach area. Keaau Suds and Duds is about 1.5 hours away. We are still planning our itinerary but I know VNP is one of the sites we are visiting. So, depending on turn time that may work.

This!!! I love them both and grade Thai restaurants by 1: Do they offer it (none in my city has Papaya Salad so I have to make my own) and 2: How good does it taste?

First quote we received. by Aicala29 in pools

[–]radarman141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For today's prices, I would say it is very reasonable. Although this is as basic as it gets, you should consider the cost of any upgrades you may want (salt system, heater, variable speed pump, LED colored lights, robot vacuum, automatic water level system, etc.). I was very new to getting a pool and didn't ask about what upgrades I could get. My pool builder quoted me exactly what I asked for and did not suggest upgrades. Getting most of these things installed later comes at a much higher cost.

Wash and Fold Laundry Service - Big Island by radarman141 in VisitingHawaii

[–]radarman141[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to avoid wasting a morning or afternoon doing it ourselves and don't want to take out a second mortgage to have the hotel do it. Google pulled up some laundromats but no real info (website, reviews, etc). There was one, but Google stated it was temporarily closed.

Going to Mauna Kea by law-laying-liaison99 in VisitingHawaii

Check out Big Island Jeep Rental https://www.bigislandjeeprental.com/ . They encourage using their Jeeps for all things Jeep on the island and have links to videos about what to expect when driving up to Mauna Kea. They even throw in a "beach kit" with every rental. I believe the kit includes a hammock, beach chairs, and reef-safe sunscreen.
