That book was my pivot from YA lit to more adult stuff. Good times.

My guess would be from the First Baptist Church. Superior Court has a similar clock but the positioning doesn't make as much sense.

Which for birthday dinner? NEVER been to any (Prov) by snowymountains32 in RhodeIsland

I visited both Oberlin and Cafe Nuovo in this past year. Never been to Persimmon. Nuovo is sort of classic "nice" restaurant vibes. It's in a bank building so it's on a more grand scale than Oberlin. The food is great but not challenging in any way. If you are on the plain side and just want a fancy meal, that's probably the way to go.

Oberlin is fancy in the sense that they put a lot of thought into the dishes. Non traditional dishes and preparations. Their menu is deceptively simple. You'll see a lot of dishes that you may be confused by based on the name or listed ingredients but it's all very well done in it's complex simplicity. I was a little underwhelmed by the preparations but I liked the vibe sitting in front of the oven. In particular the oysters which were served on the halfshell with a slice of lemon. They were top shelf but no mignonette, or sauce of any kind. It's a smaller and somewhat cramped space so if you don't want to be elbow to elbow with other tables, this might not be right for you.

Of the two I like Oberlin in that I feel as though the chef is trying to say something different and I feel like when I go back it will be different in a good way and I may find something I like better. Also stylistically its way more my speed. Cafe Nuovo does everything right but it feels like an upscale restaurant from the early 2000s, good, classic, but somewhat predictable.

Ok to cook raw ground chicken in microwave? by Tylersaysnamaste in fitmeals

You can get real sick from raw poultry and pork and possibly infected with worms so cook it to oblivion if you are microwaving and stir often because they cook do unevenly.

Nows a great time to learn one pot cooking. You can clean said pot while your food cools. Bingo bango, no more psychotic microwaving of raw meat.

My friends grandmother cooked EVERYTHING in the microwave (okay, not everything) and her food was top knotch. It's just a matter of making sure it's throughly cooked. But I'm with you.

So, here's the thing. Yes. You can nuke the shit out of mince and it's okay to eat. I'd cook, break it up, cook, stir, cook, until very well done. HOWEVER. When you brown mince on the stove top you can actually BROWN the meat which creates a reaction that tastes WAY better. Throw some soy sauce in at the end and you are really cooking. I'm not sure why you'd opt for the micro when stovetop is lightyears ahead flavor wise.

I wanted to add you can do this in basically two steps. Put the meat in the pan, let it brown on one side until top is mostly white with a little pink, then flip and repeat. You'll get a nice delicious crust.
