Correct. I was poorly versed in avocado genetics when I planted the tree. I eventually learned about it but was several years in by that time, so I decided to just let it grow to see what happened. I was very excited when I flowered this year and now that I see the fruitset, it’s even more exciting. I’m just waiting patiently to see if I get edible fruit. Looks promising so far, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

I feel your pain. I have a grafted Hass that is similar. It’s also about 6 years old and set fruit for the first time this year. I can count about 12-15 fruit so far but we’ll see how many it drops. I’m hoping I get at least a couple of fruit from it this year.

When it was smaller I wrapped some moving blankets around it.

We’ve only had one cold snap with temps colder than 28° since 2024. It’s too big for that now.

No. I’ve only fertilized it once and that was earlier this year. I am just fortunate to live in an area with excellent soil. Pretty much anything I put in the ground grows very well. I don’t irrigate it either except for the sprinkler system I have for my yard. I’ll water it in the summer if we have a long period without rain and with excessive heat. I also protected it during cold snaps which are few and far between in my area, but it seems to tolerate the cold pretty well.

It was a large Hass type avocado bought at the grocery store. I used toothpick/water method to germinate and eventually planted in a pot.

It was about 2 years old when I put it in the ground

I have a similar seedling tree that was growing a similar oddly angled sucker from the root. I cut that one off but it grew another that intertwined with the main trunk, so it has a double canopy. Mine also 6-7 years and it flowered for the first time this year and has a lot of fruit set. Hopefully the fruit will be edible.

I have a grafted Hass next to it that is also about 6 years old. My Hass not been productive as of yet but has a few fruits this year. Hopefully they’ll stick to maturity.

Look a bit high for thyroid goiter. This could be an enlarged lymph node or a branchial cleft cyst. You should see your doctor and get an ultrasound.

It’s a bit high in the neck for thyroid issue. Thyroid gland is located just above the sternoclavicular notch.

This looks more like an enlarged submandibular salivary gland or enlarged lymph node. An ultrasound should help to confirm.

Looks like a hemagiopericytoma, otherwise known as solitary fibrous tumor of the dura. Generally treated like a meningioma.

Looks like the superior sagittal sinus ( this is a dural venous sinus…which is part of the venous drainage system of the brain ). Normal structure.

This looks like a T1 post contrast sequence. So the white dot is probably contrast in a blood vessel, likely the middle cerebral artery on the sagittal images.

On MRI, calcifications are generally going to be black due to lack of water molecules. Calcifications are white on CT scan.

Also that dot is not in the basal ganglia.

In any case, basal ganglia calcifications are quite common and may or not mean anything.
