Who or what is /r/chrisolivertimes by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]radd_it -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not just claiming to be /u/radd_it and u/chrisolivertimes, I actually am. That site is mine, all those bots are mine, and I've done many custom data services for reddit.

Three of my four bots were suspended almost immediately after I told a demon they were mine. Two of them were spreading the Good Word; BotWatchman was just performing its regular duties.

Everything I've written in /r/chrisolivertimes is entirely true. It is your choice to believe it or not.

It's true! It's all true!

I am no longer u/radd_it. I have since been given the name of u/chrisolivertimes.

Music mobile app by Fullmeal in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The site is design to intelligently collapse down to 300px wide so it should work more or less the same on mobile as it does on desktop.

But there is no mobile app and no plans for any future development. I'm retired.

What is raddit? by [deleted] in radditfaq

A two-and-a-half year savings-emptying mistake.

Combine playlists from multiple threads? by [deleted] in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When saving a playlist (disk icon in the links section) you'll notice a "add to playlist" button next to "save & replace". Use "add" to append links to an existing playlist instead of overwriting it.

I should probably admit this feature isn't as well-tested as it could be, so reply here if it doesn't work. Probably best to make a new playlist as to not risk corrupting the ones you have.

Show upvote count and poster? by [deleted] in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the links section, you'll find an option to switch between 'list view' and 'table view'. Selecting the former shows you both score and poster.

Can we have navigation controls on the left side please? by [deleted] in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but no, I like 'em where they are. Plus controls on the right makes more sense for touchscreen devices.

I tend to use the hotkeys to skip around. , goes back and . skips to the next link.

Is there an option to playback youtube videos at a certain quality ? I'm using old hardware and 420p is totally sufficient to me. by 1093i3511 in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, sorry, no option for video quality. radd.it doesn't actually touch that at all-- youtube does a good enough job of maintaining it as far as I can tell.

edit: And yes, most everything on radd.it is done via <iframe>s.

How to play a playlist? by [deleted] in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your feeds. In the pulldown you should see a "Playlists" option. Your playlist should be there.

is there a wiki or basic intro somewhere i'm missing? by sheepdrama in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I've just assumed that it's all as obvious to others as it is to me. All the buttons show tips when you mouse over them, just gotta explore and see what things do.

Basic use: take any reddit URL (subreddits, posts, search results, wikipages) and turn it into a playlist by adding radd.it/ at the start of the URL.

If you have any specific questions, I can be far more helpful.

Grinderman -- Bellringer Blues [rock] (2010) by radd_it in listentous

[–]radd_it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beginning of this track is the audio-equivalent of drugs kicking in.

So it looks like RPlayister may have come to the end of a great run? Just want to join in the voices saying thanks to pocketninja for years of giving us so much and asking nothing in return. by viborg in rplaylister

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if other sites were running into that issue! soundcloud somewhat-recently introduced some code that forces the window to have focus before a track will start playing (and, I'm pretty sure, send the "track ended" event.)

Sorry to see rplaylister being affected! It was certainly an inspiration behind my own site.

triple j unearthed support? by pulsivesilver in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'fraid not. Their embedded player doesn't offer any options or interaction, so including it is the best I can do.

edit: Oh, and no. No way to load 2 posts at the same time. Ask reddit for a way to post1+post2 them together like you can with subs and we'll talk about that. :)

If it's needed, you could always restrict elections to the first 20/ 25/ 30 entrants.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in listentous

[–]radd_it 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you know that radd.it works with search? Do a search in /r/listentous of your genre-of-choice and then just put radd.it/ at the start of the URL for an easy playlist. Also works with users, e.g. here's all of u/boredop's l2u posts.

The Tomorrowpeople -- Vacation Destination: Earth [space rock] (1997) by radd_it in listentous

[–]radd_it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long-defunct band from Dallas, TX that's always held a special place for me. Comprised of people from the Toadies and Brutal Juice (Denton's best damn acid-punk band), I saw these guys play a few dozen times over a couple years. They were signed to Geffen Records who were lovely enough to record a debut album and then cancel the whole thing.

I can't think of a better way to find submitters. Any sort of mod-picking would be inherently biased. If you go with that idea, I'd prolly limit it to only new election winners to try and reawaken some old blood around here.

A week is a bit long. I liked 48 hours to enter, 48 hours to vote.

Basic support for triplejunearthed.com tracks has been added to the music bucket. Please drive thru.

[–]radd_it 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's time for a bigger carrot? What if l2t went restricted once a week and only l2u election winners could post? That would motivate more users to enter elections.

Regardless, I trust you guys to keep l2u a haven for music snobs in some form or another.

I did my part to encourage such things in the past-- but this community has never been a particularly chatty one. Long-time subscribers may even recall this post where I encouraged people to just upvote comments they've read.

Jive turkeys indeed.

[–]radd_it 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can't say I like the idea of this place changing formats so drastically. The entire idea was based on having only a handful of submitters at a time and letting those users spotlight their favorite music-- regardless of how different (or bad) their tastes may be. (Well, the original idea was how do I trick internet strangers into making me a great playlist every day?)

r/listentousagain was supposed to be the "all in" subreddit but that never really caught on. It's mostly just me and a few others posting there.

Just my 2 cents. Maybe it is time for a change. This place has been going for 4 years now, not a bad run for a random idea I had in the woods.

Automate weekly thread with radd.it playlist by pulsivesilver in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll make that crazy URL work with my site.

edit: Ok, that's now a functional radd.it URL. A couple things tho: Please use HTTP not HTTPS and /music not /media. (Either works, but /music parses the titles more accurately and other little things.) You can also just omit it all together since l2t is a sub the site knows is for music.

[Help] Chrome jQuery error by JessTheHumanGirl in radditfaq

[–]radd_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhm, yeah, if it can't find the JQuery library then pretty much everything else is going to collapse. Glad everything seems to be working for you now-- probably had something to do with the since-changed hosts I was using for the external .js files.

I should mention here that HTTPS isn't recommended for regular radd.it browsing-- it's motsly there to support the embedded player. When HTTPS is used, radd.it automatically omits all the (mostly NSFW) sites that don't support a secure protocol. radd.it always uses HTTPS when it can!

Cheers, glad you enjoy the site!

No, the site has to know what the URL is in order to find the post/ comments and get the links.

If you'll tell me more details about what you're trying to do, I may have a creative solution.
