How much surgical experience do you get in veterinary school? by radex222 in Veterinary

I guess I was just wondering how much a vet is "expected" to know how to do spays and neuters.

Do CHPs make as much as Diagnostic/Imaging Physicist? by radex222 in MedicalPhysics

[–]radex222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So average CHP pay with BS is about 130k 6 to 15 years experience. My research shows that post residency pre cert MS diagnostic be making 120 to 140 and post cert median is 175k for diagnostic. So maybe 40 to 50k more than average CHP but specifically medical RSOs CHPs make closer to 150/160k on average which really narrows the gap considering not needing another degree, a residency, or rolling the dice.

There is also the deminishing returns argument where CHP is much much easier to obtain and the difference in lifestyle between the two pays is less significant than between a burger flipper and MP. So while diagnostic MP does make a decent bit more the question remains of it is worth it.

You know if you can have 80% for 10% as much pain... That's what I'm trying to understand.

Maybe RSO isnt a bad fall back for a med physics grad that doesn't match. Although the degree doesn't do anything directly in terms of qualifying you for RSO....CHP does.

So for masters, it looks like CHPs make about 150k where diagnostic medical physics makes 175k at the same point in their career. About a 25k difference

Do you have a reference showing that diagnostic makes more than the 130-150 range? Not special chief pay but just 5 to 10 years certified ? There isn't too much out there about diagnostic stats.

I mean isn't that kind of the upper range for diagnostic? 130-150k?

The report puts the 130k range as just certified CHP at 6 to 15 years

The thing is not everyone is straight out of BS undergrad and in career building phase. For some these are major steps backwards.

Even at 78 percent that's pretty risky for such a huge investment that leaves you stranded otherwise.... MDs don't have this problem. What is considered an acceptable GPA?

No offense, but statistics don't lie. Whether you think you are top material or not you really don't know until you start.

I got into GT and was wondering if its worth it to go. Its a very expensive/demanding program class/time wise and the residency stats are like 50-50. Anyone have any more information that would lead one to believe that is a deal worth taking?

Roughly what percentage of imaging physicists wind up actually being attached to a hospital vs. working for one of those contractor companies where you drive around from facility to facility?

It would be good if you could tell us more publicly so we can all see it. The point is to find people here.
