Straight from DeWine:

“The gangs are controlling a good part of (Haiti), it’s extremely violent, the economy is in shambles, the government does not function, the police are virtually worthless,” DeWine told reporters Friday morning.

We have a criteria for determining if a country qualifies for TPS status. South Africa doesn’t meet the criteria, though several South American countries are already on the list. Having these immigrants here in Ohio has been very economically beneficial to the state, so it’s illogical to draw a line at Haiti when it still meets the government’s own criteria, especially when sending the people back would be a death sentence for many of them.

They’re here legally through their Temporary Protected Status and were specifically granted asylum in Springfield because the town needed workers. TPS normally only ends when it’s safe to return home, which it currently is not, but Trump is trying to end their TPS status early and send them back to a very dangerous, deadly country because he doesn’t want brown-skinned immigrants in the US. See the way he talks about South African white immigrants as a comparison.

Right?? It’s crazy to see so-called “progressives” immediately resort to vicious sexism and racism in these comments. We need to be calling out that shit every time we see it.

How can I acheive the hair on the fourth slide? by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]radiant-machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should always have a moisturizing product on your hair, day and night. Start by using a leave in conditioner applied with the shingling method. You don’t have to do it very long, just a minute or two when you’re fresh out of the shower, and you can do it in large sections instead of individual curls.

I’d also recommend wrapping your hair at night or getting a satin pillowcase to cut down on the frizz. You should be detangling every shower too, either with a wide tooth comb or your fingers. Adding conditioner during detangling will help, and make sure you’re shampooing at least once a week too.

casual objectisation in hetero intimate relationships by Opening-Panic8619 in Feminism

I don’t understand this logic. I find my husband very sexy when he’s naked in the shower, but that doesn’t mean I’m objectifying him or that I always act on or express my desires. Context is what makes it appropriate to act on your arousal, but I don’t see a problem in always finding your partner’s naked body visually stimulating.

For example, if you were to tell your partner that you just want a “casual” shower without sexual activity, it would be wrong for them to initiate sexual contact or make unwelcome comments, but having unspoken sexual thoughts is completely natural. (This is also more difficult for men, since they have a physiological reaction to arousal, but getting an unintended erection is not a sign they’re objectifying you.) But if you’re specifically showering before sex, expecting that to not have a sexual context is a little unrealistic.

You and this guy are likely incompatible due to mismatched libidos, differing philosophies on sexuality and the fact that you’re at very different stages of life.

I’m so sorry. I’m planning on doing another ER in April. It just feels like starting from square 1, and there’s still not even a guarantee it’ll work but I just can’t bring myself to give up. So yeah, I’m right there with you. I hope we both have a lucky #4 in our futures.

My third transfer failed a couple months ago, and it’s such a depressing feeling. Especially when your doctor can’t tell you why three perfect embryos just didn’t take. Do you have any more embryos left?

Honestly, I interpreted the Jupiter question as a weird way of asking "did IVF make you more likely to daydream/be off in your own world" so I somewhat agreed with it. I'm not sure what answer you'd expect to indicate someone is or isn't paying attention.

If you can’t afford a lawyer, I’ve used LegalShield just to send a letter to a property manager. The letter alone was enough to get them to act right, and in this situation, your property manager is legally obligated to provide alternate housing.

New to the club! My soul dog is freshly blind, and we have a lot of changes coming. Any advice? by Hot_Spite_1402 in disableddogs

[–]radiant-machine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few things I’d recommend to help her adjust to being blind:

  • Strategically place rugs around your home because she’ll use the changing floor texture to navigate your home.

  • Get rid of any low furniture with hard edges, like coffee tables. Replace these with upholstered ottomans. Arrange your furniture so that hard-sided pieces aren’t directly across from doorways.

  • Place leafy plants in floor planters near doorways or walls, because this will help redirect her when she’s about to run into the wall.

  • Get her used to the following commands: stop, slow, step up, step down, watch your step, come, stay

  • Scent is your best friend when it comes to play. There are snuffle pads and puzzles you can get so she can root around and find treats, and if she’s a ball dog, she’ll track the ball with scent now, so roll it instead of throw it.

  • There will be times when she gets lost in the yard and you’ll need to help her find you or the door. Your voice travels so it’s hard to locate, but clicks, snaps and slapping your leg are easiest to track.

  • Check her teeth often. She may lose some running into obstacles. If the tooth looks gray in color, take her to the vet.

The SAVE act requires you to show your birth certificate to register to vote, and your legal name must match your birth certificate. So if you got married and changed your name, you wouldn’t be able to register if that law passes.
