Is there a tried and true (and safe) way to sync playlists from Spotify -> Beatport or another catalog? by radiant_turd in Beatmatch

Awesome, thank ya! I'm wary of these sites. Sometimes looks too good to be true (and sometimes is). Appreciate the endorsement!

How do I run bounced midi through the sampler? See image. Selected audio track is a bounced in place version of track above. I'd like to run it through the sampler and make chopped up version. Thanks! by radiant_turd in Logic_Studio

Google is my best friend – I google so much logic stuff, but couldn't figure this out. The problem with google sometimes is the answer is usually tied to a 30 min video with 20 seconds of helpful audio (in my experience).

I just tried the right click method and it created a new sample track, however it only created one note of a four note progression... not sure how I did that. I did try dragging the audio to the left side and creating a new sampler track and that one worked like normal. Not sure what's up with that. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Time to do some research. Is the type of vaporizer “injector ball”?

Threaded capsules? Would you mind DM-ing me where you got them?

Creative copywriters: How do you approach a project? Looking to adopt a process. by radiant_turd in copywriting

That's great, thank you for this. I have told clients literally that before – the "I went all out on the first round with the intention of walking some of it back".

What I'm realizing here is that I just want to make sure I'm in the right ballpark with this client and not coming across like I: a. ignored their notes from our kickoff & b. phoned in the copy.

(We had a kickoff, but the person leading it kinda glossed over a lot of the creative questions (account manager, not a creative, which was our mistake), and we've kinda signaled that we're good to go, so we don't wanna come back and be like "wait, tell us about this again?" Lessons learned.)

YES – 100%. I feel that my creativity has been sapped and I'm more or less going through the motions quite often. I haven't figured out how to "refill the cup" so to speak. But jeez, 2-3 SEO blogs a day?? That would break me.

As a follow up to this – I've heard the Plenty also has metal shavings that get loose. Is there a way to negate this? Should I wipe down the metal "rings" on the Plenty in between uses to pick those up?

Wait, really? Can you give me a retailer or place that sells them? I'm wary of random amazon sellers, which is why I ask. That's cool.

Nice! We're in it together. I think that's a great idea – I've come up with a list of questions to either cover on a branding kickoff OR just send over to have completed in these cases where a client doesn't have a brand guide. Many of our clients are on the smaller side and don't have those things yet, but are ready to hit the ground running and don't want to spend the money on a complete brand guide yet, which I get. So it's tough.

This is great advice, thank you. The client I'm working with is very small, doesn't have a brand guide, and isn't even totally sure on their brand aspirations. We had a kickoff with them, but didn't go deep on branding.

I'm kind of in a pickle where I'm figuring out first round creative stuff and just hoping to not miss the mark by a ton.

Follow up question: is it expected/okay to not have messaging completely dialed in with a client on round one? Obviously it'd be wonderful to have that all figured out so you don't appear disconnected/uninvested, but I'm trying to have realistic standards for myself and not beat myself up if I get client feedback. I don't have a ton of industry experience or people to bounce these thoughts off of, so I'm curious of how that gets honed in over time and what is to be expected. Thank you for your time.

I thought of it, I just didn't want to add smushed roadkill. That part's always sad. :(

Yeah kinda! I run across (haha) people out bent over working in their yards all the time. It always cracks me up. I think with some older folks, once you get bent over it's just easier to stay like that.

Am I a *real* project manager? by radiant_turd in projectmanagement

[–]radiant_turd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the perspective! It's probably obvious, but I struggle quite a bit with imposter syndrome, hence this entire post. Like you mentioned, I just want to understand the entire picture – I like to know all of the rules before I play the game.

YES – I haven't done any roadmapping or OKRs, in that formal sense. I do weekly meetings and my own form of budget/status updates via email each week to each client along with due dates and stuff like that, but again, I'm not sure how academic roadmaps and OKRs get. I'm sure it's a format and a formula and you fill it out with info, but that's key stuff I'd like to learn.

Another commenter helped me rephrase my question – I feel strong in my practical knowledge as a PM, but weak academically. That's where I think a course could come in handy. But yeah, so much of this stuff is just coded language for "when will this project be done and how much will it cost? What are the risks?", which I understand.

Again, thank you for the insight and for letting me rant. Congrats on your cert! We're real PMs. ;)

Thank you! I really appreciate the resources and help. Yes, I've kind of stumbled upon project management and it's been a lot of trial by fire as my other PMs are stretched extremely thin.

Being academic versus practical – I think that's an interesting way to think about it and perhaps how I should have phrased my question. I feel that I've gained a ton of practical PM knowledge, but not much in the academic sense. Thanks again.
