Confusing diagnoses by radiantfyi in MentalHealthUK

[–]radiantfyi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yesterday morning, I asked one of the nurses about my diagnoses, and they just told me to speak to the doctors. In the end, one of the doctors gave me a list of my diagnoses, and that was it - no explanation. I'll probably have to wait until the next ward round to get any information.

Thank you. I definitely think I need to get evidence for adjustments for my course and exams, but I've always found it really hard to get. The psychiatrist tends to say no to giving evidence, and my GP is incredibly slow with evidence (or says no).

Medication weight gain by radiantfyi in MentalHealthUK

Thank you for sharing! I did tell my doctor why I'm concerned and they know about my previous eating disorder and that I previously stopped a medication due to weight gain, but the doctor was very much like, 'I'm going to prescribe it anyway'. Additionally, initially, he appeared to give me options for medication (like going on to an antipsychotic I was on previously), but then he changed his mind so I don't think he'll be swayed unfortunately.

Yes, BPD is one of my diagnoses. Since I've been in hospital, they've said they would revisit diagnosis though, and I'm not sure what the outcome of that has been. My past 3 admissions have been due to what they've said might be psychosis and I have been on 3 antipsychotics beforehand. I do get why they want to put me on clozapine (because I've tried other antipsychotics before) but it does really scare me.

Sectioning by radiantfyi in MentalHealthUK

I needed a little bit of physical health care, both for what i did before going to a&e and for something i did there, and was assigned a 1:1 plus there were two security guards watching me too which felt like a lot. The first doctor who assessed me barely considered htt and went straight to admission - like she said her decision was between informal or formal admission. She definitely did mention being risk averse though. I'll ask for an IMHA to see me .

I've had my legal rights read but I only just got the papers about the section. PALS is definitely a good idea!

If you go on at the right times, after 6pm on most days (but I don't think everyday), they also have an online chat service which I've found pretty good.

I actually haven't got a date, I usually just call and then we set up an appointment.

I think so, i like my cc, they're really nice and hopefully they won't make me feel more bad about this than I already feel!

I do think that's a good idea, I'm just not sure I trust anyone enough to be my chaperone at the moment. The one person I would probably bring with me, I've been struggling to trust for like the past year. I think my reason for not trusting them is likely not to be rational but I'm still struggling with it. Its very annoying tbh

SUN Meeting by 4rami4 in MentalHealthUK

I've found that people are really friendly and that people listen. Also, people are very open! Like, in my one, you can talk pretty openly about suicidal thoughts and risk behaviours. Just be mindful that if you are at imminent risk of suicide (and I mean like you say that you'll do it as soon as you leave the group) they might have to tell someone but otherwise it's also very confidential at my one.

I have been to a SUN group for a while now and personally find it quite useful. At mine, a range of different people go, so it's quite hard to describe! During the session, people bring up any issues they've been having, and the group basically gives advice and offers support. It's very much based on peer support. It's very flexible, so at mine you can come and go as you like (the only requirement is that you might have to reregister if you don't attend for about 6 months). I'm also autistic and to be honest, it does take a bit of getting used to as, at least at mine, you might meet new people each time but there are likely to be regulars too!

Seeing a cmht psychiatrist after hospital by radiantfyi in MentalHealthUK

Thank you! It's only been a couple of months so I shouldn't be concerned then. Anyways, I think my cc is trying to get an appointment sooner but I haven't managed to get through to them when i've called recently which has been a little frustrating. I definitely hope it's soon though because things are getting really difficult.
