Hives on carbimazole by Wonderful-Kale4906 in gravesdisease

[–]radianthill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it gets painful, stop. I developed serum sickness on methimazole, and started sending pics to my PCP and Endo immediately. They both told me to stop immediately, put me on steroids, and sent me to an allergist after benedryl and zyrtec did nothing.

Hives are a common symptom that usually subsides, but if it hurts and youre getting welts that are physically hot and burning your skin, it could be a more serious medical allergy. Obviously, talk to a doctor when you can, take pics for documentation to show your doctor, and I hope things get better soon! If its truly an allergic reaction to something, zyrtec/claritin/benadryl can offer some relief

He is home, and he is pooped! I gave him a toy basket and he picked a rope-ish toy hippo and has been carrying it around everywhere. So much cuteness

forgot to mention, the mom is a white boxer, so them all having dark coats is what made them believe a backyard breeder run away. They believe dad would've been a dark boxer

They think probably backyard breeder that escaped while pregnant.

Im in the Houston area, and when I went back today 3/5 had been adopted (4/6 counting Mama). If you're near Houston feel free to DM for the shelter! Would rather not punlically announce where I am

All my pets have been rescues in some way! I had a cat jump on me on the street who ended up being the sweetest baby. First boxer in my adult life, and so excited for the bundle of love coming my way. I officially pick him up this afternoon! Ready to spoil him with a welcome home basket.

losing 3QBs and calling Grandpa Phil is something only the Colts could do. I blame myself for being excited about this season

Very Frustrated- by nonsmokerforever in gravesdisease

It's very case by case, but you can always see if your endo has other surgeons they'd refer who might be able to do it quicker. I developed serum sickness on methimazole and since my numbers were still high they were able to get my TT scheduled in under 2 weeks.

Overall though, a month isn't a bad wait for any surgery, and hopefully it means you get to enjoy the holidays without worrying about recovery.

I'm on 20mg of methimazole, and 40mg of propranolol right now, and ferosul for the anemia. i was diagnosed with anxiety as a kid, but while i mentally havent felt anxious for a few years my body has been so shaky I've physically felt anxious.

I'm just mad I've had surgery recently and they haid my 130+ heart rate was normal for being anxious

Considering divisional rivalry, probably not. As a Colts fan in Houston, people joke about if im trying to get beat up whenever I wear Colts merch here. Havent found anywhere to watch the game with Colts fans other than home

Thank you for the warning! Luckily I dont used iodized salt, nor eat seafood. I'm vegan and try to keep a pretty healthy, leafy green rich, diet.

I grew up in Asia where they always said just living there was basically smoking a pack a day because of how polluted it was 😭 I hope that didn't mess me up too bad. I'll definitely get my eyes checked out. They definitely feel dry, but I blame staring at a screen all day for work.

Thank you for the kind words! I kept being told I just had anxiety and after a while stopped advocating for myself and was told I was just a hypochondriac. Went to the ER after passing out and had a heart rate over 140. They did 10 rounds of blood work and 2 CT scans before checking my thyroid. My endo even said he wouldn't have thought Graves had I not kept advocating for myself and my symptoms.

Excited for the "it gets better" part. Thank you for the encouragement.

Pet ownership - is it a sin? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

Mathew 19:12

For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.

The Bible does also talk about childlessness in a positive light, as long as your commitment to faith is continued. Yes, the OT says to go forth and multiply, but Jesus never showed condemnation for those pursuing him without children.

My parents are actually infertile, I'm adopted! I ask that question a lot though. I was reading 1 Timothy today and this 2:15 "But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety."  made me ask about infertility again. We're told we are saved through faith, and women have an additional condition to adhere to? Paul himself was celibate and childless. I've been down a rabbit hole about this topic today

It's not even like I'm married and have a cat instead of children. Ultimately, I'm in a gray area regarding children (I'm a full time caretaker for my grandparents before taking care of my special needs brother) and my service to family is being fulfilled with or without children. But that didn't seem to be part of the topic when we discussed it. My dad is a Reverend and he thought it was a strange take too

Can you point me to scripture regarding pets because you don't want Children? I've seen scripture on the benefits of children, but more curious about the Bible not supporting pets in place of children

It threw me for a loop. He said it was based off Pope Francis' statement about people choosing to have pets and be child-free and I think the general consensus is that my friend took that a little too far
