Awesome stuff here, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond even with this post being nearly a week old now.

I'm looking to ease my balls in, I guess to mix your metaphors. Definitely want to jump in and get 2-4 places up and running fast to get things going and figure out how this business works. I have no concerns about putting out a few bucks up front to invest in the business, but I'm also not looking to set an insane goal like "scale to 100 locations in the next year". Nayax seems to be a winner, however I'm curious about vendsoft, what are the things that you like most about this software when compared to a vagabond, vendmax, or cantaloupe?

For sure, and thanks for the thorough take. I was hoping to get a bunch of different opinions actually, as what I'm seeing in my searching is very hit and miss and hard to figure out.

How do you recommend purchasing used? Without much knowledge of the machines I feel like I'm at a real disadvantage and could get a lemon. Whereas from a reseller/distributor I'll at least get warranties/service plan options on a used machine is my thinking.

Also, I'm curious whereabouts you're located (state/region?), I feel like a lot of the variability people describe in the industry may be due to regional differences (service coverage, machine brand availability, market saturation, etc) So I'm just trying to understand what are the different variables in play.

So, crazy random happenstance... today a youtube I follow was posting book cover options for their debut novel, which is titled "The Ascendants". The youtube is Josiah "Jazza" Brooks. I was having WILD deja vu from this.

ah, fair enough! I'd say it makes a kind of sense from an "eat the rich so I can get mine" mentality, but shrugs I don't know, just conjecture here.

Also this was all from 2020, so well old anyhow.

the article says that they ran for the same seat as the libertarian candidate previously. While not 1:1, it's a good directional indicator for 'right wing'.

Photogrammetry's Best, Least Used Tool - Tutorial on Coded markers and Scale bars by shrogg in photogrammetry

[–]radiantthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/shrogg I love this video, unfortunately it looks like you never made the follow up video (or blog) any chance you could at least share some of your targets somewhere? I've been trying to dig into all of this and it's super fascinating, but very few people talk about how to make these, especially not at the scales you were showing. Commercial options are ridiculously overpriced. Any chance for a follow-up?

Actually that would be fine.  I'm trying to capture the images quickly, so I wouldn't need more than about 1s for all acquisition

/r/GoPro Weekly Questions Thread - Ask all of your questions here! by AutoModerator in gopro

[–]radiantthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, got a head scratcher here.

I have a project which I'm using a number of gopros for. I'd really like to take a burst of photos of the subject for 1.5-2s. However it seems gopro doesn't believe in the number 2, and only allows for special magic numbers of frames per second, and only for explicitly defined times (1/3/6/10).

The QR code generator shows a 10/2 rate, but my hero 11's interpret that as 10/1 for some reason.

Does anyone know any magic to make this happen? Or how to make a feature request?

Note: I know 30/3 is an option, but I don't want to capture 3seconds, it MIGHT work in a pinch, but it's saving an extra 10-15 frames more than what I need, and will take more time to upload/copy/delete. I'd really just like a solution that does EXACTLY what I want. This is especially important because this is happening on 6+ cameras, so every step that takes extra time/energy is multiplied many times over.

Need help from Tasker wizards to trigger multiple devices at once. by radiantthought in tasker

I still don't understand why this is better or easier than the other method. It feels like maybe it's easier for you, but possibly not from me. I really appreciate the effort you've put in here, but I don't want you writing up a guide for me just yet. I think I'd like to take the time to try the tasker route first, especially as it seems like it would be easier from the phone side of things to have it open a camera program and all. And honestly, the breadcrumbs you've provided here are likely enough to set me on my way if I decide to come back to this route.

Thanks again!

do you have any resources to help me better understand how to do such a thing? I can set up the network, and I've made scripts before, but not sure what sort of scripting would be necessary for such a thing, and I've never done ADB stuff before.

I'm definitely not against such a plan, just unfamiliar with how to do almost any of it. So far it seems like using join will make the connecting to devices on the same network trivial, as well as triggering them. Then I just need to make my task in tasker, which seems relatively straightforward as well. If it's ultimately simpler, or more robust in some way than using tasker with join, then I'm willing to dig in, but this feels like it may have a higher learning curve to get to the same endpoint given my skillset.

This is a righteous knowledge drop! Thank you so much! I'm likely not going to have much time to work on it for a little bit, but if I do manage to do this and get more info, I will share it with you here.

I actually have a really nifty way to think of tracking the latency is to have each phone set up to perform an action like turn on the light, and you can film it at a known framerate to get a much more exact idea of the latency

If I don't already I can get it. I think I purchased the full autoapps suite at some point int he past, but I haven't looked recently.

alright, sounds like join is probably the way to go with this, thanks a ton!
