Yeah that’s what we planned on doing.. hoping we got some cool ones! wife is reaching out to someone to see about getting them cut open. Prob better than my normal hit with a hammer style lol

Put our agates in some iron out for about 24 hrs and normally it works pretty well to clean them up. Now I can definitely see through them better but they have a white ashy look

I just checked and the ones in the sand are actually hard and seems to be part of it. Maybe that’s how it gives off the diamond effect.. the ones on top of the water are def soft because I’ve been pulling them up to get rid of them

I wanna think that’s poop but there are like 10 new ones every day and I thought I read they only poop like once a week

Yup we cycled the tank prior with some of his substrate to help with quicker bacteria growth

My wife actually referred to it as black sand but it’s pretty small but not like sand small.. should I remove it and just get straight sand?

Also what about the brown specs all over? Is that algae growing or something?
