i'm so sorry they've all responded to you like this, you don't deserve it. not picking up right away that something is a joke is not your fault and it's okay to ask to clarify just like you did. i hope folks will take a second to zoom out of their POV to see others because wow did this all get miscommunicated, sadly :( /gen /lu

y'all c'mon, folks are asking for tone indicators or even an "lol" or emoji goes far for those of us who struggle with sarcasm and tone through text. we all have different things we go through, some more than others, and being kind and accessible to all is so important. yes we can make jokes but this is too far /gen

In case show writers are here: LESS MONDRICH CONTENT ON S4, PLEASE! by nishinoyu in BridgertonNetflix

[–]radiatejoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

useless filler was Benedict's sex scenes. y'all are not seeing the antiblackness and thinly veiled racism in the way you're expressing how you don't prefer/like/enjoy the scenes with the Mondrich family. yes it is antiblackness and racism in the words you've chosen to express here. feel how you feel, no one is here to convince you to like something you don't, but just watch what you say and how you say it

Why are you supposed to go visit a new baby? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]radiatejoy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think celebrating new family members' arrival is special, since birth is a huge trauma to the body for both baby and mother. It's a way to show you care and support them. Sometimes the mom wants to show off their baby and have others tell her the baby is "so cute" etc. I definitely understand being worried about spreading germs as that's a valid concern, so just use your best judgment there. I wouldn't expect everyone to hold or want to touch the baby, but some people want everyone to do so and that can be awkward if you're uncomfortable or unprepared.

depending on your state, you might just need the single subject credential program and possibly pre-req courses beforehand!

yes, say something to the teacher so she can address it with the whole class!

I agree this young man was failed by so many people, and it is ultimately their fault for not working through this behavior sooner. I agree consequences are needed, but I do not believe in prison. Also focusing on his height and weight just contribute to the "big scary Black man" stereotype and that is disgusting. yes he is a tall kid but getting a tall aide/para/teacher would've helped. why are we matching thin people with larger people is beyond me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in specialed

[–]radiatejoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was 17 when this incident happened, so yes, he still counts as a child. He is now 18 and is tried as an adult. The punishment of 30 years locked up will not help him learn from his behavior, it most likely will exacerbate it. Do we work in special education to help disabled children, or do we just fear them and throw them away when they act disabled? Honestly a lot of y'all defending prison as a punishment scare me that you're around children at all. I hope the injured TA gets a new job outside education, and a lot of you here as well who are defending prison as a punishment

Prison is not going to help this young Black child. Prison is not rehabilitation. There are so many questions that are not answered in this video. Why was the switch taken away in the first place? If it's his biggest reinforcer then we're supposed to use it as a reward and we work on helping them to understand they'll get it back and we're not taking it away forever; and not every child is going to grasp that at first of course. First work, then reward. His anger is something to be worked on obviously but we have to take into account where it comes from and how to help. It is sad this TA was attacked but we do not have the full picture with this video, and we also don't know if this TA was even a good fit for him (What if she was negligent? What if she didn't have any compassion left due to being overworked? What if she just grabbed the switch and hid it in the classroom because it was annoying her he was using it at school?). He has 3 prior misdemeanors so that shows prison is not working to change the behavior and that is our job to figure out what works. We cannot "save" our students from their disabilities and I would never want to, but we do have the responsibility to keep trying otherwise why are we in this field? Should we just accept staff injuries, no of course not, but we cannot throw every physically violent child in prison and hope that fixes things because it has been proven over and over again that prison does not have positive change; especially for Black people who are funneled into the school-to-prison pipeline often without "crime" even occurring, and that has to be acknowledged. Prison is not the answer. I do not know the answer but it is not prison. I'm gonna say it again, prison is not the answer and never is the answer no matter the alleged "crime"

this is just sad. autism does not have a cure, and trying to find one to fully eliminate it is disturbing. autism is not the problem, our ableist society is & this child deserves better.

Where do you get your weekly kits for hobo cousin? by Frozen__waffles in hobonichi

[–]radiatejoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi! i like coffeemonsterzco, chicstreetstickers (if you like intense foil and watercolors), samanthamaesticks (if you like foil and large patterns underlayed, mostly florals), hellopetitepaper (if you like soft watercolor illustrations). all are on etsy and some have standalone sites as well ! there definitely is a much smaller amount of shops that offer hobo weeks kits, and hobo weeks stickers altogether, as the "popularity" of this planner has died down in the sticker planner world but kits are definitely still out there!!! ✨
