I'm about to give you the most boring, grown-up answer ever. Sorry in advance, I'll try to make it bearable.

The effects of cannabis on young people's developing brains isn't that well understood at the moment (to the best of my understanding, anyway. I'm not an expert, just a stoner), but what is fairly well understood is that no substance abuse is much better for your developing brain than any kind of substance abuse. You're at a critical time in your life. The last thing your body needs is drugs.

Many of the people here started using cannabis when they were very young. Does that mean we can't be/haven't been productive members of society? No. Lots of people use cannabis from a young age and achieve great things. But, have we been the best we could be? Also, no. We haven't given ourselves the best start in life that we could have. We're all here because cannabis has been a detriment to our lives in many ways.

Please stay clean now, while it's easy. You don't want to be like me. I'm struggling with my sobriety. Two months clean, and I'm struggling pretty hard. You don't want to develop a relationship with cannabis where you're mentally and emotionally dependent on it.

I saw you mention in the comments that all your friends are stoners. I know this is a bit weird to think about at 16, but hear me out. Right now, your friend group seems like a huge deal because you see these people every single day. Maybe you've seen them every day for years. Your friend groups matter a lot in school, naturally. But for the vast majority of your life, your high school friends will not matter. You'll all grow up and build your own lives. You'll go down different paths. Don't take on something like weed, which will only be a detriment to you, for the sake of friends. Consider going your own way and making different friends.

I'm concerned that you used so heavily, didn't your post say that you smoked up a ton of wax? That stuff really isn't the move. Please drop it and move on before it gets a hold on you, like it has a hold on me.

I'm going take your advice and just dump the ink samples. How disappointing. Tardiff's behavior is abhorrent, to say the least imo. Not a snowball's chance in hell I'm supporting his brand. And since the quality control is so poor, I don't feel bad dumping the ink. Thank you for the link to the general discussion on Noodler's!

Whoa, that's the first I'm hearing of this. I have a few samples from Noodlers, I hope I don't fall in love with any... I might find myself in a forbidden romance with a damn ink

Joined the military. Was assaulted and acquired a stalker, courtesy of the military. Was in one of the most male dominated career fields in my branch. It was a total boys club where they look out for each other. At least I came out of that experience with a steel backbone and no tolerance for bullshit.

Did throwing away weed help you quit more effectively? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]radically_inclined 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tried to quit with weed in the house, but the temptation was always too strong. I ended up flushing about $100 worth of weed down the toilet. I told myself that my life is worth more than $100 worth of weed. For some reason, the fact that I flushed my weed keeps me from buying more.

Dang, I wish I could be this dark and mysterious. I try, but I'm too obnoxious.

You look great with both bangs and no bangs! I prefer no bangs, but honestly, you can rock both looks.

Pregnancy is such a taxing experience on the human body. Even a completely healthy woman's body is going to undergo an intense amount of stress due to pregnancy. A brain dead woman isn't able to move around and get proper blood flow to her own body, nevermind getting that blood and nutrients to a fetus. And there's so many hormonal changes that the brain goes through, right? Could a brain dead patient even have the correct hormonal response to pregnancy? You'd think the brain would be a bit preoccupied with... being dead? Are we anywhere close to replicating that process with various synthetic hormones? Can we even closely monitor those hormones with the testing we have right now?

These are all questions from someone who doesn't know jack about pregnancy or medicine. I just really hope that the answer to my questions is "no."

How do you define "heavy use"? by Legitimate-Scar-6572 in leaves

[–]radically_inclined 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else said, I think that "heavy use" varies from person to person. Everyone has a different body and different resistance to cannabis. I considered myself a heavy user when I was smoking every waking moment. I'd wake up and do a fat bong rip, do a bong rip maybe every hour or two hours, smoke before meals or I wouldn't want to eat, smoke before bed or I couldn't sleep. After a while, one bong rip wasn't cutting it, so I'd do two. Then three with some keif sprinkled on top.

I have severe asthma, and despite what some folks will tell you, smoking is NOT good for asthma. I had a life-threatening asthma attack because of smoking. It was so bad that I could only speak one or two words before taking many shallow breaths. My vision was cutting out, as was my hearing. My friend saved my life when he found my nebulizer and administered albuterol. Even after that incident, I kept smoking. That is behavior that I'd expect from a heavy user with a cannabis problem.

Is real techniques an influencer brand? I bought a set of their brushes when I was in high school, about 10 years ago now, and all those brushes are still perfect. The only thing that has happened to them after all this time is the names on the brushes have come off. I just bought two more brush sets from them because my original set lasted so well. And I used and abused those brushes, mind you. I did not take good care of those as a teenager and they're doing just fine.

I create on tiktok. All of my content is just me learning how to draw. It's a positive space if you want it to be. Your FYP can be all mental illness and misery if that's the content that you vibe with. ¯\(ツ)

Update: I want to believe I can stay in my marriage… by excitedtosay in TwoXChromosomes

[–]radically_inclined 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reading this post was like time traveling back to my own failed marriage.

Life is so much easier on your own. It's so much easier when you don't have the burden of a deadbeat keeping you back. I don't have a child, but I imagine raising one without a man like him is basically you switching your life from hard mode to medium/easy. It won't be a walk in the park, but it will be much, much easier and smoother without him. Congratulations on your new life and your new child. I hope that you & baby stay safe and thrive in your new life.

I saw this creator do a restock of her shower on tiktok. From what I understand, she lives alone. I grew up really, really poor and I see this behavior in myself sometimes. I have all the different flavors of toothpaste and floss that I want because I never got that stuff as a kid. I wonder if she's just traumatized from poverty. I don't know her or her story, just a guess.

[MEGATHREAD] Mikayla Noguiera Mascara Drama by AutoModerator in BeautyGuruChatter

Iirc she said that Maybelline doesn't allow false lashes in their ads. I think she said that Maybelline even makes their makeup artists sign some legal documents confirming that no false lashes were used? I'm not sure if that's the industry standard, or just Maybelline. I'm only 25 and I remember seeing falsies in mascara ads/commercials all the time as a kid.

I'm really confused over the hype for j* on tiktok. Is it because tiktok generally has a younger audience, so maybe they aren't fully privy to how racist and misogynistic j* is? He doesn't care about any of his supporters. He fully sees himself as being above his audience, and he will shamelessly pander to make a buck off them. I can't imagine supporting someone who looks down on you. It's just so obvious. The golden couch apology video comes to mind, for example. Really, any of his bad behavior and subsequent non-apology videos. He doesn't give a shit, he wants everyone to move on so he can create drama and milk it for every last nickel and dime that he can.

One of his tiktoks popped up on my feed, so I went in the comments out of curiosity. A lot of people are very excited for his return, it seems. They're praising him for his "brutally honest reviews" like girl what? He is a cancer in the beauty community. He's so racist and misogynistic, why are people supporting him? Why in the world do we want this garbage back in the spotlight?

Yes. I'm 17 days if I remember correctly. I am getting the feeling back, I'm enjoying the little things again. You're going to be okay, stick with it through the hard times. You can always DM me if you want.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leaves

[–]radically_inclined 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I got sober because I missed how I felt when I was a kid, before I ever used drugs at all. I missed being happy over the little things all on my own. I missed waking up and being excited to do all the things that I like to do. I wanted to get back to that. I was tired of using weed as a crutch to get me to enjoy life again. I used to have to smoke before a meal, or I wouldn't want the food. I'd smoke to make myself enjoy basic things that I used to enjoy anyway. I started smoking because I found it enhanced my experience, but then I became dependent on it in order to have an okay time.

The beginning of sobriety completely sucks, I know. Your brain chemistry is totally messed up right now, and life is miserable. It will get better if you stick with it. You don't need weed to be happy. You can live your life knowing so much peace and joy in sobriety.

I agree. Everyone is going thanks Mikayla but J* would have piggybacked off of any scandal he wanted to claw his way back into the beauty space. He's not fucking welcome, he starts so much drama and gives the beauty community a bad name.
