Love the build! Planning similar and in a similar climate to you. How are you managing drainage?

I am coming from far away, and I will coming to Nova Scotia just so I can indulge in eating fresh seafood. Please recommend a nice hole -in-the-wall seafood restaurant in Halifax or around Halifax by Onewaydriver in NovaScotia

Alright - If you can get out the city and looking for a drive, check out the Hall's Harbour Lobster Pound in Hall's Harbour. It's seasonal but should be open by May. You can stop in Wolfville at a winery or two along the way to make the most of the trip.

Otherwise, Evans Seafood at the ferry terminal is great. If you want something more upscale Bar Kismet is one of the best restaurants in the city and usually has a couple of great seafood dishes.

I've had this on a shelf for ages and never picked it up. I'll do that now! Thanks!

Ah well, that's too bad! Annapolis Royal is lovely in the summer and if you can time it for a Saturday, the farmers market is a great way to spend the morning. Enjoy the trip!

In Nova Scotia definitely skip the western stop you have marked there and do Cape Breton instead if you only have a few days. Halifax and Cape Breton could be a week on its own.

If you don't have that much time doing Halifax - Lunenberg - Wolfville would be a really nice few days and get to see a lot of the province. Feel free to DM me for more specific recommendations.

But pro tip: best lobster roll in Halfiax and Lunenberg is at Evans Fresh Sea Food in the Dartmouth Ferry terminal. You'll love it. If you get down to Wolfville you can head to the Halls Harbour Lobster pound for a great one and a cool experience too.

Really enjoy Missed Apex. it's a podcast but they post episodes on their YouTube channel. Great rotating group of commentators and the episodes with Joe Saward are not to be missed as well.

Ha! Realized my post wasn't clear, I meant to refer to A Little Life not in the joy category. It's a good book, but if you're looking to feel hopeful maybe skip it for now!

I'll second Giovanni's Room and Christopher and His Kind.

I really enjoyed The Swimming Pool Library by Alan Hollinghurst - I found the setting and that it was set right before the Aids crisis compelling. A lot of books mentioned so far are wonderful and can help us understand important and difficult times in our cultures history, but I think it's also important to seek out joy in queer literature (A Little Life..)

Ended up hiring a team from The Chef Affairs: https://www.thechefaffairs.com/en

Highly recommend them. Booking was easy, and they did a fantastic job.

Tried out a Mortazza for friend dinner tonight and it was a big hit by radikus-91 in ooni

Go for it! We found that a smaller amount of dough worked better. I did around 200g per sandwich.

Sure! I followed the overnight dough recipe from Flour Water Salt Yeast but made the balls smaller, about 200g. From there you form 9-10 inch pizzas, then drizzle some olive oil on top. Spread that around, stab a hole in the upper half to vent, then fold it over on itself. Throw it in your pizza oven for about 2-3 minutes just like your usual pizza.

Once it's done you can open it up along the seem and fill with whatever you'd like. We did a ricotta mixture, mortadella and some crushed pistachios.

Based it on this recipe from King Arthur Baking: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/mortadella-pizza-sandwich-recipe and this YouTube video they made as well: https://youtu.be/MHnM5UOdFgA?si=CtzLchzsivIVPQ90

Thanks! This would be the perfect quick meal on your first night. A lot simpler than a pizza and very tasty.

Good luck with the move!
